What's up, new here and to diesels as well. Just picked up a 93 sierra k2500 6.5 turbo diesel reg cab 4x4 auto. surprisingly clean only 2 rust spots 1 on each rocker. 182k I don't plan on doing alot to the truck just some exhaust stacks, intake, gauges and a turbo setup if I can find something not sure if I should do anything else. Ill post pics when I get home

Hi Gordy! Nice looking rig you got there ... all set up to push a little snow!!

Welcome to the Truck Stop - if you have a 6.5TD, this is the best place on the web for ya!

Please take a little time to fill out your signature - click on the link in mine to get there... and you can put your picture in there, too, if ya want.

Howdy Gordy,

Chi-town eh, spent some time there back in the day, when I was a young "sea-pup" going thru war-canoe U in Great Lakes bootcamp and gas turbine tech school 80-81, brrrr chilly when the wind blows off the lake there, welcome to the site, you found the right spot for 6.5 info, or Diesels of any flavor for that matter, be sure to let your other Diesel buddies know about us.

Welcome Gordy,

I'm not sure what you meant by intake.

The stock air filter box for the 1997 or newer trucks has proven to be the best thing available for these trucks.

It's an easy swap. You'll need to remove the plastic air snorkle in your fender or trim about a 3/8" crescent off the K47 where it snaps into your fender.

Make sure you get the elbows with the K47 air box or You can use a 90 degree PVC elbow and some couplings to replace the OEM 97+ elbow

Do a search here for K47 air box or on Google as well.

Don't waste your money on a K&N or other aftermarket.

You might want to add an additional fuse protected wire to your alternator. The OEM wires are undersized from the git go.
I usually use an additional OEM wire going to the other battery.

Also might want to do the Lift pump/oil pressure switch relay update. If your OPC is working now do the relay upgrade and you might never have a problem with it.

I run 5w30 Amsoil in everything with what I consider great results. I also run a FS2500 or Amsoil bypass filter in everything. If the bypass filters do nothing else they give you 2 extra quarts of oil.

How many mile are on that truck?

thanks guys for all the replies.

i didnt know that a modified gm air box was the way to go with my truck so i had planned on getting a aftermarket intake.

not my first plow truck lol but yeah we could use all that snow here. correction icould use all that snow :agreed:
