I bought yet another 6.5 truck yesterday. It was too good to pass up:rolleyes5:[addiction]
It's a 95 c2500. It has the NV4500 transmission and 3.70 gears.
This truck has a 5th wheel ball hitch in it. The biggest suprise I got when I went to look at it was ,it has a intercooler:eek::eek: Then I saw the heath remote FSD mounted on the driver's side inner fender. There is no skid plate because of the intercooler plumbing.
Other mods that I've found so far are: kitty delete, split straight pipe exhaust, turbomaster, K&N air filter, and boost and exhaust temp gauges. I'm willing to bet it has been chipped also.
Other features are :pw,pl,pm, leather wrapped steering wheel, and power seat.
It has rust holes in the front fenders[in a odd spot] and rust above the rear wheels. The cab corners and rockers look great. The doors are rust free:confused:
The PO said it was supposed to have a rebuilt engine. He had no proof of it. He also said it had the power of a 454 and got 22-25 mpg.
Now the bad. It needs a IP. The seals blew on the current Ip and got diesel fuel in the oil[had to blow both seals to get that far]. It also will need new rear tires and batteries.
A couple days in the shop and it should be drive-able.
And now the tour:

Update

After looking the engine over, I found it to be a 6.2. There was no turbo oil supply at the front of the block. The turbo oil supply is a steel tube with hose clamps on hose to the oil pressure switch output.
After charging the mismatched batteries for 4 hours it still didn't sound right turning over.
I got it in the shop late last night. This morning I was going to drain the ,supposed diluted with diesel , engine oil. 2 gallons of anti-freeze came out first:mad2::mad2:.
I was suspicious that this was going to be the case because I didn't smell diesel on the dip stick and the way it sounded turning over. The ds4s don't usually fill the crankcase with fuel because there is 2 seals.
At this point I'm not shure if I will junk it or fix it. I should be able to get most of what I paid for the truck by just selling the NV4500 transmission. On the other hand I have a pile of 6.2s that I could put in it including a new rebuilt.

You sure are getting a lot of use out of that trailer!

Good find!

I'm thinking I should trade the trailer on a 12000 lb 22ft one. The ex-cab lb truck barely fit on it and was very hitch heavy. This trailer is 18 ft 10,000lb.
The forklift last week was 2000lbs over weight.

Face it bro, your gonna fix that truck and drive it til the frame rots out. Why else would you have a whole pile of engines ready to rebuild??? lol

I've grown very used to 4wd and automatics. I've junked 2- 97 trucks already. This one could turn into a money pit with no way to get out. Resale on 2wd trucks around here is $1500 less than 4wd.

Nice truck, I think you should fix it up and keep it. You don't have any trucks with the NV4500 in it do you? Good time to put one of those many engines you have in her and have another nice rig. Where did you get that one?

I don't have any other trucks with manual trannys. I don't like shifting all that well. It probly wouldn't be that bad now since I don't drive in traffic in the twin cities all that much.
I bought this truck off of craigslist. It was on there for over 40 days. I had to give $1200 for it. The tranny is worth most of that.
I got a whole pile more parts off craigslist today. A complete 6.5[bad rod bearings?]ip with pmd ,spare pmd,2 alternaters and a starter. I should be able to use the heads on one of the 6.2s
