Went to an auction today, everything was really clean and maintained, rarely used, and ordered as cheap as possible. (combine hade no a/c or heat, but had the standard cab and blower, the 06 2500HD 6.0 5spd 4wd, only 6K miles, like i said, never used.)

Farther down lied something that caught my interest, mainly the layout, just how i like it, longbed, 2wd, manual.

The truck was a 91 GMC 1500 RCLB 6.2L SM465, 2wd, 10 bolt (sadly) bright red (shedded, paint in nice shape) no dents, no rust, etc vinyl bench floor, etc no a/c, had chrome package.

5x,xxx miles (cant remember)

Anyways, bidding started at $1K, and I ended up with it at $1875.00

I feel she'll make a decent light tow rig/economy rig. I won't do town driving with it, as i don't like starting/stopping a diesel.

everyone I know who had a 6.2 loved it-except for obvious pulling through the mountains. but hey, it doesn't look like thats a problem for you.:D

ROFL! ):h

No mountains, of course. We are about 25 miles from Mt. Sunflower, which is actually just a hill in some guy's pasture. (highest hill in the state!) I should hook a trailer to the 6.2, go to the little visitors box and say that I conquered the mountain!

but in all seriousness, one can find a hill on the highways that will make you drop a gear, but thats about as serious as it gets!:D

Add in some goodies and you could take that truck to Bonneville, Bill's Land Speed Racer is a hybrid 6.2, with single turbo it would be good for 10K tows easy

I take it you are expecting me to do a SF 14 bolt swap? :D I guess since SF 14 bolts with 5 lug are so rare, it shouldn't be a problem to buy the 5 lug shafts and throw them in?

If I am thinking Performance & Speed, than a Banks kit and a NV4500 install are in order. (and the 14bolt SF of course!)

I doubt i will take it to Bonneville, as it is so rust free, I will find a rustier one for that.

I also forgot to mention, cracked the ol glovebox open, and what do i find but maintenance records pretty well from new on old oil filter box lids!

Drove her home today, wanted to test it, so we had it tow on its maiden run. Don't worry, i topped off all compartments with proper fluids, and ran it up and down the road to get up to temp. good thing i did, as the upper rad hose was dribbling coolant. it was just a loose clamp luckily.

Anyways, it never crested 210, and had plenty of oomph to hold top gear (1:1 direct)

I think she'll make an excellent addition the the C/K fleet.

A "J" intake will help. A overdrive tranny would really boost the mpg. The 91 k2500 LD that I used to have was very easy on fuel. I got as high as 28mpg on a straight highway run. The ip was turned up 1/4 turn and had banks exhaust. Hearthrob exhaust,Litchfield,mn makes a mandrel bent system for it also.
