Well, I think I am going to finally order a new set of injectors for my truck. Looking on ebay, I found a set for $245.00 from az-diesel-injection-services in Arizona. Has anyone had any experience with them at all? Says he uses bosch bodies and nozzles, and it comes with an installation kit. Item # is-320515007199. Thanks.

Steve

Careful with Ebay injectors, they can be like playing russian roulette. Yours best bets maybe having yours rebuilt by a local reputable diesel shop or buying new major brand injectors like Delphi, Stanadyne or Bosch. I bought new Delphis for 299 including install kit.

I'd vouch for Accurate Diesel also. I've been very pleased with their service/products etc.

Cheapest you can get an engine used is $950 military surplus 6.2. 6.5's command around $1500. Then you have to pull your hole blown in the piston engine out.

Is eBay worth the risk of going through the above?

Best results is a local or known shop and have the pop pressures set close on each injector.

Okay, are these the inj's in question?

http://www.accuratediesel.com/shop/19.html

If so, does anyone know what they actually are, how closely they're balanced, and what the pop pressure is?

I'd love to give them my business, but frankly, it really bugs me when the information needed to evaluate what the heck you're buying requires a phone call instead of being able to look at the specs on the page. Sheesh. I know some other major supporting vendors who are terrible in this regard too. What's UP with that? Competitive fears? What?

Since my first choice is reman name brand units from a reputable shop, I guess I'll call AD tomorrow and find out. I know my local shop doesn't bother with remans any longer because they'd cost more than new, given their labor rate.

Ask Tim himself, he will respond you very honestly and can provide you with whatever brand you want.

The best of the best ones are Bosch, Delphi and Stanadyne. Those ones you linked to are good too and are a good compromise between budget prices and quality.

IMHO, they are far better than "Herzog" or "Medalion" ones anyways...

Right you are.

Indeed. Here are the answers direct from Tim:

Availability depends on cores returned, 90% are Bosch.
Others may be avail by request.
Replacement nozzles are US Diesel.
Pop pressure is set to 2100 PSI, within 50 PSI across the set.

Thanks Tim!

Well sure, but how can you tell what those are or aren't by reading the webpage? Shoot... and I forgot to ask about the core charge, which *also* isn't spelled out on the page.

Tim is great and responds to emails even after normal hours. I have bought 4 sets from him with no issues, however he sells WAP glowplugs. Those I would not buy. Get the Duratherms from Heath. well worth the money.

Noob question: What's wrong with WAP glowplugs? I ask because I was looking at the "package deal" on AD's website...

Waps had a very short life span. They may have that problem solved but not positive of that. The bosch duraterms are available at you local napa or other parts store for much less than heath. Sorry, I'm not on the Heath Bandwagon.

Good info.

Thanks.

I am also finding that while Heath's stuff may be good, better prices can be found on some items....

RockAuto have the Bosch Duraterms for less than $8 shipped with the 5% discount code from this forum.

As far as Ebay goes, there is a seller in WI there for new Bosch for around $35 each.
The other forum members have bought it, and they say they are new and pressure are good.

Add 80 dollar core charge to that and your at the same price as rockauto for brand new bosch FYI.

Either way I'd call tim and see if he match the pop PSI's.

He does.

See my earlier reply.

... 2100 pop, all within 50 psi.

Thing is, if you buy a new set and pop testing shows them to be inadequately balanced, you then have to spend even more to have them balanced.

Hence my preference for a high-quality reman set from a reliable vendor.

WAPs aka Wellman Automotive Products were known to swell to the point of not being able to remove them. It's been rumored that they fixed that problem . The guys on Steel Soldiers all swear by them for the 6.2s. My Dually came with WAP's. Not sure how long they were in there but I will say they looked perfect when I removed them and started just as good as the Duratherms. what I personally have found DON"T start good are the AC Delco 60gs. I will try and find out from PO of my Dually how long the WAP's were in it. Given thier past trak record I would not want to be wrestling around with swollen glows in a 6.5TD so I have stayed away from them. Yes I could have gotten them cheaper but I like to buy from Bill too. It's nice to be able to get him on the phone in an emergency to figure out what's wrong with something so I don't mind spending a little more with him once in awhile. I don't buy everything from him but if he is reasonably close I'd rather get from him.

To the original question. I bought a TPS for a Dodge from him when he first hit Ebay it was good so I bought a IP for my 6.5 it turned out to be a POS. I asked them about nozzles and if he could garranty I would be sent a set of Bosch made in Germany. He said what ever comes in is what they sell. I did'int like that answer so passed. I would have loved to support AZ business again, BUT!..........
