new to the forums, and new to Diesel and 6.5t. I have a 1998 chevy 1500 ext cab short box, that is stock. only thing i plan on pulling/hualing is a trailer with a Polaris 700 twin Sportsman. The one thing i do know is it is kinda rare i guess. When i tell people that it is a chevy 1500 they think I'm wrong and mean 2500, no it is a 1/2 ton pickup. :agreed: I got the truck from my grandpa who didn't drive it much 115k miles on 5k in the last 8 years.

Only thing i would like to do is put a little lift on it and some large rims/tires for ground clearance.

welcome to TTS, Aramark!

Yes, short box 6.5 1500s are rare, and it sounds like you have a winner there! You have found the best spot on the web to get help with your 6.5TD... look around, read up on your truck in our 6.5 Technical Library, and join in the discussions to meet some of the guys.

When you get a spare moment, fill out your signature, so we can 'see' your truck - and pics are always a good thing!

The links in my signature will take you to where you will out yours.

Welcome!

Jim

Nice truck. Ive got my feelers out for one just like it (Maybe diff colors).
Picture looks like Ca or Az somewhere? not Mn.

He lived in ND, now in AZ. He emailed me pics before i got. next week I will get the block heater fixed (cord is bad)

Good looking rig!

The stock 1500 rear springs are pretty worthless for any real loads and they sit dang near level already. You can fit 265/75R16 tires with it set as is with turned up torsion bars and add a leafs 285's will fit easy.

thinking of either getting a lift or just bigger tire for ground clearance.what would be more wise?
