New GP-relay is different than the old one

Bought a new GP relay but the pins are different from the old one.
The old one has three pins (in the outlets number three, four and five, counting from drivers side.) (Dont know the age of it)

The new one has four pins in the outlets one, two, three, four.

Shapes of the new one tells that the plug has to be rotated 180 degrees before it will fit in the grooves. (The thick and thin groove that prevents the plug to be mounted wrong)
Anyhow, GP light does not come on, no click, and SES code 29 (GP relay cirkuit fault) is comming up.
Fuse is ok, and I got battery power at the big wire going into the GP relay.
The plug has a pink, yellow and black wire, and when the key is at glow position, I got power at the pink one too.

Can I get any use of the new relay, that looks identic to the old one and was bought by a prof. dealer.
When remounting the old one again, same code is coming up, and will not be erased.

:) Any adwice from the 6,5 gyes ? :)

Your new relay is for the 91-93 trucks, the 94+ with the electronic pump is like your old one.

Agreed, you have the wrong year new part.

Thanks gyes. Again you amaze me with quick and helpfull answers to get the ol`baby going again.
This site is simply awesome. Think the truck would have been for sale allready if it wasn´t for your help :smile5:

I will return the relay tomorrow, and get the right one. Install, clear the code and.... hopefully she will start quick and perfect.. hopefully :smile5:

Best regards
Max

Today I got the right relay, and I noticed one big difference compared to the old one.
The new one is glowing about twice as long as my old one, and has a way softer "Click" when it is done glowing.
Unfortunately the truck still needs little too long cranking before it starts. Seems like I am soon running out of easy things to try, so I guess I will have an injector checked next, to see in which shape they are in.

Glow plug on time is totally controlled by the ECM on a 95 truck, so if it is glowing longer it means the ECM is telling it to due to coolant or air temp readings.

Yea, I installed them this summer, and cleaned alle connectors, ...which did not change anything on the starting issue either.
Think I am gonna try a few more things and, if they do not help, fill out the troubleshooting form in here with all the things I have done so far. :smash:

What brand of GP's did you use?

Wellmans instant heat GP's are known to fail early.

I actually don´t remember but they were in a white box with red lettering. Actually the name seems familiar, so it could be.
But since it did not change anything to replace the old ones, I am not likely to think that glow is the problem right now.
