Picked up a repo'd 92 K2500 Suburban the other night. Didn't know much about it other than a rather pristine body that was white with grey interior (score!!! I love grey interior; it's universal) and it needed rear leaf springs; the frame was sitting on the axle tubes. Too bad I'll be tearing apart this thing for the body for mine, it's still in very good shape. 454 runs good too as far as I can tell.

I know not the best way to load that heavy bastard but with the access we had, it was the only way to get it on the trailer. Surely didn't like going over 45 much either.

Now, where are those nice warm spring days?........

I'm thinking two tone like my current Suburban but can't figure out what to use on the lower/flares. I was thinking: dark dark blue, medium-dark grey, silver frost-ish or maybe just paint the flares matte black and leave it be. Any opinions?

Wow, haven't posted on this one. Small update, which is actually quite dated...by a month sadly to say.

Interesting idea but a little too late for that. ;)

Anyone know if there is any structural differences between a 92 and 94 body? The gap between my rear fender lip and rear tires got quite a big larger after we set the "new" body on the frame.

Didn't think about that; looking at both of them, they're both the top models for those years though. Each one looks pretty well loaded minus the more aesthetic options. Most powerful motors available for each year, Silverado trim on the 92, SLT(?) trim on the 94, both 3/4 tons, both full floating 10.5 rears, hydroboost on both, etc., etc.

Kelley Blue book has this for specifications on Suburbans:

1992 suburban
Maximum GVWR - 6800
Maximum Towing - 7000

1994 suburban
Maximum GVWR - 6800
Maximum Towing - 10000

Don't know if this is due to suspension changes or just better powertrains in the later model.

Pretty sure towing ratings are based on suspension, brakes and cooling, not engine power/torque. That's why you could get a 350 in Dually's. ;)

Woot!

Evacuating AC, held a nice steady 28 in.hg.

This was supposed to be a before picture for my LEDs...until I found out the seller sent me two right side taillights.

Still a s#it-ton of things to do. If you look close I still need rear flares, need to get the chin piece under the grill sprayed, finish all the piddly interior parts and wire/plumb my gauges.
