New AirBox

didn't realize the S & B box was bigger than the k47

It looks bigger but I'm not too sure about actual dimensions. The install was easy and all parts seem to be good quality. They claim to be made in the U.S. The price was higher than I wanted to go, but I like the look of it. I was having no luck getting my hands on a K47.

Does this air box use the HD paper filter that goes with the K47, or do you have to use the gauze type K&N filter?

I put one in my truck a while back. Even though I ordered it with the disposable filter, they sent me an oiled type filter. I have been meaning to find a suitable amsoil replaement for it.

I couldn't believe the diffrence going from stock flat panel filter to this. It really is a big impovement. Like the OP, I had trouble getting my hands on a K47 as well and chose this route.

That looks clean, I like it!

Thanks for sharing!

What kind of filter does it use? Looks like a K&N.

EDIT:
It uses a paper filter or a cleanable 8 ply cotton filter.

I grabbed the cleanable oiled version shipping was free, but of course UPS dinged me 20% damn. I'm pretty sure it's the same oil procedure as K&N I have the recharge kit for my other vehicles. The magnaflow muffler is stainless I got that in this morning. I may have to consider a resonator the truck is too loud for my liking with a 4" exhaust. I will however be able to monitor EGT while towing now that sensor is in pre- turbo.

I didn't pay that for my LBZ Duramax S&B Airbox. I loved mine when I had it.

I'm liking mine a lot but I got mine from Heath.
Cost is up I'm sure because it is a low production run/limited audience product so they need to recoup their production costs AQAP (as quick as possible). My thoughts are that they would charge more but; 1. that is the price point Bill Heath set for the ones he's marketing (he designed the thing) so I think S&B will stay in the same region and 2, us 6.5 folks aren't going to pay much more than that.

If I can help with an Amsoil filter let me know. There is a major distributor wharehouse in "Big D" so you should have product next day.

S&B has a tapered cone filter bigger than the "big" Donnelson I had in my K47 box, which would not let my K47 box close fully, the std Donnelson filter for my burbs K47 box closes fully.

The Heath/S&B is a tight fitment on mine but I think the ATT sitting higher than my GM-8 is part of that fitment clearance.

So far the new filter and magnaflow muffler have made my truck nicer to drive I wouldn't say there isn't difference in power but it drives smoother and a little quieter. I'm just wondering where to go next . I also want to do a cooling mod. I guess I'll have too budget my projects. It's quite east to spend 3k just in mods Anyway it's most likely fuel first since I already have the parts injectors and glow plugs from Accurate diesel and FTB from Walking J.

I just ordered a S&B intake a few minutes ago.

It's going to replace my factory flat panel setup with a dirty paper filter in it, so I SHOULD notice a pretty big difference.
