Just installed my B&W GN hitch and test fit the companion 5th wheel.....I need to make some adjustments to the companion so that its sits tight to the bed floor......I've never hauled a 5th wheel before.......but as it sits right now it seems like the hitch sits too low due to the height of the bed rails of the NBS...any one have any experience with this? Thanks...Mike

Mike, I have mine set so I can get a fist between the bed rails and the underside of the camper. I have only hit once in 5 years with it set this way, and let me tell ya it was a very steep off camber driveway, just a rub though. Your hitch should sit tight to the bed and then you adjust the hitch to get your clearance and to get the trailer as close to level hitched up and loaded. The closer to level the better it tows. :B If you want so picture let me know, we are heading out in about a week.

thanks marty a pic would be great....I hear 6" is the min clearance.....guess we will have to see when I go pick it up...

Mine is just about 5". I also have a trailair air ride pin, so I can add air and gain ove a 1" if I need to. Soon as I hitch up I'll snap you a picture.

I have one of the older plastic ribbed bed inserts with no trouble. with chrome bed rails, I have 4" above them with no hits yet. if your concerned, the hitch pivots sided to side 7 degrees, you could raise the hitch or possibly lower the kingpin- mine does not tow level, but its pretty smooth.
