What is spec for tdco on my 97. I set it as close to-1.94 and not worth listening to noise for a couple of HP's. I live in Central MA and willing to travel if someone with a bi directional scanner could help me out. Anywhere from southern VT,Maine, NH to South Jersey works for me. Can use money beer ect. What would a mechanic charge for this in the first place. I know its a simple procedure, and if I had something better than my brick I would do it myself. Present spinal issues prevent me from moving pump anymore. I don't trust mechanics and am horrified letting one do ball joints presently, and I actually like this mechanic. I have horror story from jeep fiasco that gave me this fear. The only I got the jeep back cause he died. Not Kidding. Thanks in advance.

if you haven't moved the pump to far (to get a lower number) you should be able to get several TDCOs in the same pump position. I'd give it a try first.

And that is the reason my mechanic would not go past -1.30'ish when I asked to advance the timing as he did not like the sound at the -1.9 range either. Personally, I have not noticed a difference (sound or fuel economy) from when it was at -0.75, but not worth paying to set it back. IIRC it took the mechanic about an hour, but the actual price was buried in the list of other things I had done at the same time. If you want to expand the travel distance by another couple-a State lines, can recommend a shop that still speaks 6.5 :) I'd love to get my hands greasy again and move my theoretical knowledge back to the practical range, but lack of free time coupled with other priority projects means I pay shop rates . . .

All I need is someone{doctor) to give me some back spasm medicine that has no bad side effects and I could probably go back to the snap on brick and move the pump method. I could also work and rid myself of anxiety. Jay, I'm not out of my mind thinking that most don't know anything about 6.5 and not let anyone work on it. AK, How does one get different readings without moving pump. I only have a snap on mt2500 and use turbinedoc's conversion chart. What memo did I miss?

With a bi-directional scan tool you will get several TDCO for one pump position.

OK, sounds like I can use the brick a little more. Had not noticed different TDCO readings. So if I get to -.75 to around -.1 I should be good and much quieter. Also, If I'm around -1.9 a small bump toward drivers side is the right way to move the pump. Been a while since I visited this. Hoping the new meds work and can do this. Going stir crazy waiting to get better. Thanks everbody for input.

Try Formula 303 it's an herbal muscle relaxant that for me has 0 side effects. Works fantastic and was given to me by a chiropractor. Trust me I know all about back spasm and will eventually have to have surgery for it.

I ordered some 303 formula today. The baclofen the latest doc gave seems to work, but really tired and GF called all day to make sure I wasn't driving. Best I felt in four months and If I feel like this tomorrow I will get out the brick and set the TDCO to quiet mode. If I'm at -1.9 and gonna go back to -.75 again I need to move it slightly to drivers side? Thanks everybody.

Thanks again and looking forward to that 303 formula that has no side effects. Drowsyness won't work for me either if I can't get used to it. Bummer that my construction life is over. Starting culinary school soon. Never planned on a change at my age(47).

It may be uncomfortable but I'd let the prescription meds get out of my system for a day or two so as not to have any issues with them interacting

Update. I managed to get the brick on the truck and drive it around till it got to operating temp and the brick says -0.62. According to Turbine Doc's conversion chart that means-0.09 on a tech2. I'll check it again tomorrow and see if it has same reading but if it is same it will need slight nudge to drivers side to get to -0.7. Am I understanding chart right? How hateful is -09? Truck goes great, just seems doggy off line.

The data that seemed out out whack was desired timing which said 12.6 and actual timing was 12.3. According to Turbine Doc thread, Desired should be 3.5 ish ans pretty sure I did initially months ago. The truck is doggy off line typical of wait for spool up. Then goes like healthy V8. You can't stay on skinny pedal long before running out of neighborhood roads, also fine on highway. Does anyone know if carcode got updated to windows 8?

Just got my carcode cable, Had to revamp a win 7 laptop as 8 is a no go. I was hoping to be able to use can bus cable that was more money, but would work on my newer stuff. My 09 traverse needs it body control module reset to let the temp blend actuator blow cold when ac is on. I got links to set tdco and hoping for ease of use.
