Need to change fan motor resistor, have questions, 96 C2500HD

Hey guys, I need to change the blower motor resistor on my 96. On dad's 00 OBS, we had clearance issues doing it, even with the bigger air bag capable dash.

So my question is: how the heck do I get this done on this 96? that is a pretty low profile dash.

It's doable just a pain. I bent mine and then after I got it in position straightened it back up.

So you bent the little coils, right?

The last resistor I pulled on that body style truck was fine it was the controller fan switch instead,these controllers and fan switches go bad pretty often, I think the switch had melted. Be a lot easier to check that first.
