Got my Walbro and pre filter on the way from PMDCABLE, thanks Leroy, and also have a 5 micron fuel filter water separator to mount under the hood before the square factory fuel filter. I want the fuel filtered by the 30 micron prefilter and then by the 5 micron and then by the factory square one. I have trouble crawling around and up into the bottom of the motor to figure out where the fuel line goes into the factory square filter FFM. There is a rubber hose going into the top of the FFM on the passenger side. Is this the inlet from the LP???? Once I get these installed I can start experimenting with WVO. Thanks again.

The 3/8" hose is the one going into the square filter. The water drain and line to the IP are 1/4". The return line is 5/16". There is no return coming out of the FFM.

I can only see the one line, it appears the same size as the one I cut to get my fuel pressure. Where is a water drain line and should I be draining water every so often???? There is a plastic large headed screw with a X in it on the drivers side with a very small hose nipple sticking out with no hose on it. I am still confused????

The water drain line runs up to a tee handled valve on the thermostat housing. A hose runs from the valve to drain out below the front of the engine.
The plastic large headed screw with the tiny hose nipple is the bleeder for the filter.
I can get some pics tomorrow of just the FFM and some of one on a 91 6.2 engine on a stand.
Personally I'd upgrade to a 6.5 turbo style FFM or one of the new ones leroy sells. The square cans are a PIA to me. Your FFM WILL start leaking sometime.

Thanks a pic would help. If I get the square one changed once and no leaks I will b ok cause it should never need changing again for a long time. I will look for a water drain on the thermastat housing 2moro. I am putting one like Leroys on the fender thats why I need to know which rubber hose to cut.

What leaks on them is all the o-rings for the fuel heater and water in fuel sensor and a few other places. Very difficult to get replacement parts. Changing the filter is always a big fuel spill also.

Yes it looks like a difficult messy job, I have visions of those coat hanger lookin things bending when I change it! Gonna try to get it to work for a while cause I really want the fuel heater in the square filter to work plus the one in the fender mounted heater to also work so I can put a lil heat into my WVO blend. I wanna drive on cheap fuel! LOL Hopefully it will work and my IP will hold up.

Hey BK95td I dont have a t-handled water drain @ the thermastate housing. I use to have a hose with a bolt in it with s screw clamp done by a PO. I took the bolt out and diesel squirted out so I figured it was a line the PO ran for a fuel pressure gauge so I hooked my fuel pressure gauge to it and put a t with a valve so I could drain my air out during a filter change. It seems to work great as a place to put the fuel pressure gauge sensor! Wonder if that is pre FFM or Post FFM pressure???? So then have I identified all the things on the FFM???? Lil nipple next to big X is the drain for bleeding air???? Hose running out front of thermastate is the water drain???? Big rubber hose going into the top passenger side is the line coming from the LP???? U said there is no fuel return line to the tank???? How does the fuel get back to the tank then?????

Has anyone got a pic or schematic???

Where you have your gauge hooked up is pre-filter.
Got some pics for you. The last pic is the FFM on the engine yet. My hand is on the inlet:thumbsup

Hot Da^^N! Now thats what I call going to the wall to help me understand this thing!!!!!! I got it 4 sure bk95td!!!!! Thanks a bunch now I am gonna cut some lines and put some filters in and start burning WVO!!!!! Well burn it for a while, wonder how much its gonna cost me if I trash my IP? Once again thanks u got it idiot proof bk!!!!

Picture is worth a 1000 words. I have a box[5000] of the tags to mark all my parts when I junk stuff.:WTF: Now, if I only had a inventory system:mad2::D

Well I do appreciate the pics, there is no way to get to that line to put my fuel pressure gauge on the line going to the IP so I am going to be happy with it pre FFM, although I think I saw somewhere that u can put a fitting into the FFM by taking the bleed screw out. I might get adventuresome and try that but first I want to get the filters and Walbro installed and start burning my WVO blend! Some people say I will probably trash my IP and have to fix that problem, I hope used ones r cheap! I am hoping that by monitoring my fuel pressure and not letting the filters block up I will make the IP last a long time, but who knows how many miles r on the IP now!

The mechanical ips don't mind the wvo as bad as the electronic ones do.

Yup bk thats why I looked so long to find a N/A 3500. The WVO gurus say the 6.2 and 6.5 handle the wvo very well as far as cylinder damage from poor spray pattern occasionally, just as well as a Mercedes! Just gotta get past the IP problem. I got a Walbro coming that ought to keep the fuel to the IP without any problem. Cant wait to try it. What I want is Leroys truck, now thats a veggie burning machine made to order!!!!

Hey Bk95td I got the Wix FFM installed to day! Thanks a bunch for ur pics they got the lines in the right places for me! Check it out on the thread partner its nice I think.
