I posted this on that "other" website as well, because it's driving me nuts to have my new HID's and not be able to install them!!!
Anyway, i got my HID kit from fleabay yesterday. The directions arent that clear and i think I'm lost!!!! lol
Where do all these wires go??? I would think the plug from the original light plugs into the ballast to power it, and the light can only be plugged in way. Does the ballast itself need to be grounded?? Where do the other 2 plugs go???
What i get from the directions, is that the original plug goes into the female plug up by the bulb and then the other end of that plugs into the ballast. Tried that and it didnt work. Please help me feel not so retarded! lol
I built an 11 second Malibu from a gutted shell and cant, for the life of me get the damn HID;s working in my truck!:mad2:

All the wires should be plug and play. The ballasts do not need to be grounded. You may have to reverse the polarity of the wires from the ballast to get them to work. Some come backwards, some say GM trucks come backwards.

Nick, should i reverse the polarity on the red and white wires coming out of the ballast? Will it hurt anything if it's wrong?

i had to reverse the wires on my fog lights but installing them is no sweat. like nick said its just plug and play. the hardest part is deciding where to mount them.

If you plug them in and nothing happens, you're gonna need to reverse the polarity of the wires. I had to do it on mine as well.

Reverse the wires on from the ballasts, NOT your truck.

The wires going into the stock light, now need to be plugged into the ballast. The HID bulb need to be plugged into the housing and into the ballast. Think of the ballast just intercepting the power from the stock wiring harness to the actual bulb. If you plug them in now and they dont work, cut the wires carefully and swap them over.

Try that first.

First off I would cut that rubber piece off the bulb harness and that that extra harness with the connectors leave it in the box. Then I would mount the buld into the headlamp and connect the wires , color to color, to the harness coming out fron the ballast. Then connect your truck harness to the plug molded in the ballast box. Try your lights. If they don't work, try flipping the truck harness plug where it goes into the ballast. The pins should go in either way, but the clip on the harness may need a little effort.

Got them installed and they work great. All i had to do was flip the original headlight plug over to reverse the polarity. Thank you so much guys!!! I owe you guys a beer!

I know it's daylight, but here's a quick pic between the difference in the stock fogs and the new HID's. I cant wait til tonight!!!!! lol

Mine are Factory 4300k Color. Nicks are 5000k. If our Trucks were to be side-by-side, his would look like they have a lil more Blue to them. Just a lil bit though. Seeing our Trucks separate, you wouldn't be able to tell a difference. I would be able to though. That's just because I'm an Automotive Lighting Fool!!

so mad maxx what are your recommendations. also do they even make a kit for my truck or can i just get a Denali kit? sorry to be a thread robber.

Denali's never came with OEM HID's. Don't know if that's what you meant when you said get a Denali Kit.

But if you have Denali Headlamps in your Truck, your Low Beam takes a 9005 Bulb, ALSO, if you have Denali Headlamps, you have a Projector for your Low Beam, which means you could get away with a 55w Kit, due to having the nice sharp Cutoff from the Projector.

So I say get the 55w Kit in the 5000k Color with the Upgraded Harness. 55w HID pulls some Color out, so a 55w 5000k Color would look like a 35w 4300k Color. Still WAY Brighter, just less Color in the Light, thus meaning you can see better.

I'd agree with that. Some have said that you cant run HID's in those particular projector housings but several members have done it without problems.

Hmmm, I wonder why People say you can't run HID in them? You can run HID in ANYTHING, just comes down to how offensive the Glare is and whether you keep a good Beam Pattern or not.
