Hey, anyone have a picture of a 6.5 flex plate? I need to see the weighted side. I have a real good vibration going on in my engine since I put it back in. Only thing I can think of that changed is the flex plate, I put a new one in it.

Leroy,

I try to post one asap. I'm finally to the point I can pull mine. (unless someone beats me to it)

I put mine on wrong when I installed that engine. I was able to slide the trans back enough to remove the bolts and re-torque them.

If I recall the weighted side is away from the torque converter. But I don't think it bolts up because the weight is in the way. Its been long enough, I don't remember if I re-clocked it or flipped it to resolve the vibration. {Memory Fart}

Thanks Leo for the pic. (Cant enlarge it?)
John it looks like your right, the weight looks to be on engine side of plate.
Im going to crawl under mine and see what I can see.

What else would cause a bad vibe? (HB is good)

If only engine turning, tranny input shaft, torque conver bolts loose, converter itself. are you getting it only while in motion? If that's the case- tire/wheel, driveline, tranny.

Sorry Leroy, I down sized it when I sent it from the cell phone.

Its possible the engine is just running like crap. Im finally trying to get it running good again after putting the 6.5 back in it.
I just pulled the flex plate cover and inspected, everything seems normal except one thing. The TC is still very hot. Last I ran it was 4 hours ago. seems like everything else is cooled off, but the TC is very hot still? I know it holds alot of fluid and maybe it just holds heat like that (never felt one after running) Ontop of that I only ran the truck at idle speeds, I did get it up to temp though as I was trying to look at things on the scan tool.

Vibe is anytime engine is running just above idle parked or moving.

Cool, both of yours look like whats on mine.

Just went back out to see if I was crazy and the TC is definately hot still. The engine oil pan and trands have cooled off.
Trans fluid smelled good (dark outside cant see it though).
Have a pretty good vibration coming from somewhere. Im going to try tuning the engine and see if it go'e away any.

Ontop of all that my ECU is not responding properly on the scan tool. I'll be looking at grounding issues tomorrow. Truck is ideling about 1100rpm.

TC's can balloon too. Eyeball it while setting and idling. Preferably in park whilst parking brake engaged.. :)

Some one can say I'm wrong, but I think you can install the flex plate 180 out.

I had the same vibration. I pushed the trans back enough to remove the flex plate. I just don't remember what I exactly did, but after re assembly, the vibration was gone.

John

I am going to tomorrow. It got dark or I would have allready. I cant imagine the pressure needed to balloon one.

After looking at mine it would be very hard to install any way but one way.

And, come on damn it. Hit your head on the table or something!! remember what you did!! :banghead:

The only way you could 180 out is if you are missing the location pin in the crank. If flexplate were on backwards there would be a gab between it and Tc. Loose flex plate bolts? Loose Tc bolts?

It all looks good, Its internal or the engine is just missing. Seems like its hitting all 8 though. Will know more in next days as I work on it.

I think the pin was missing. It might be the weekend before I actually can get block pulled to verify. (work has me busy during the week. ie 8pm and still at the desk)

Sitting a long time tends to make injectors stick a bit...

I think is something like that. Or electrical signals. Scan tool is showing all kinds of screwy.
Bought a couple shop manuals to help with the pinout of connectors.
