Hello, I have a 96 k3500 crew cab that has the break lights stuck on. I pulled the switch and they still stay on. I pulled the little fuse and they
stay on.i pulled both tail lights and can hear the relay clicking on when I plug it back in. I have switched relays and still stay on. Help ..:mad2:

I don't see any. I just pulled the third break light and it look ok. There is nothing left to pull. Must be some kinda ground problem

Swapout relay with a known good one. Test to see if ground is constant that is controlling relay.

Trailer brake controller failure or stuck on? Wires/pins in the trailer plug shorting? Turn signal flasher failure. Hazard flasher failure.

Think of grounds = the frame and metal parts as one huge buss bar all tied together. Its all tied together and to one side of battery so its all shorted together. Then the other side of circuit has the switch to control the on/off somewhere along the wire that leads to the device. Sometimes there are common nodes along the wiring that can supply power to circuits if they are "back fed" from the other side of the switching.

Take the cover off so you can see the bulbs and see what element of the bulb is on if you can one or both. Then unplug the wiring from the back of the "bulb board" (what ever you call it) and see if all or one of the wires have voltage. Blinkers and brakes should be independent voltage. You could have a bad bulb board and other problem compounding the issue. Is it just the red lights all or one and/or the reverse too? If fronts are not flashing/on I would tend to think its brake related and/or something in the trailer wiring or reverse circuit as the issue.

When did the problem start? Have you recently done any other work to it when the problem started? If so that location is a good place to start. I can't remember the relay in the wiring to the brake light, getting old I reckon. Let us know how it's going...

Well here is the latest. I pulled apart my trailer lighting and found all in good shape. So then I cut all wires to my trailer breaking control and as soon as I drop the relay in it clicks (turning on). I have tried different relays and get the same result. I think my problem is some ware between the relay and break light switch. Im thinkin of running a new trigger wire from the switch to the relay. Crazy rite.
I want to thank you guys for all good advice. I like being a member
