I had my truck for five years and going on the sixth winter.
Last winter I noticed it required more effort to start and lots of smoke and shaking at startup for a few minutes. I'm sure there is at least one GP which does not work. No problem now to start but I don't want to go through the winter again with the same symptoms as last year.

Should I only replace the defective plug or replace them all?

Are the AG60 the best out there?

Since the GP have been there for a while any tips for removal?

Scared of breaking one inside the head as far I know they could still be the original plugs.

g60 are good or bosh duratems some guys here run. just use lots of pb blaster my 95 had origonal glow plugs with 176000 miles when i got the truck replaced them all came out easy just used bp blaster

Both 60's and Duraterms are good.. they are both self-regulating, which means they won't burn out with extended glow time.

This is a great thing... you can hook up a push-button solenoid relay and get yourself as much extra glow time as you need... start your 6.5 'most anywhere!

Fill out your signature so we know what year truck and if any mods. I'd do them all its probably due and even heat will help warm up easier.

AC 60G are good and reliable. Bosch are also recommended. Patience and a couple hours to take your time. Its about like sparkplugs and not hard just tedious to reach some of them. Attack from all angles through wheel well (over upper shock mount at least on 4wheel drive) or from underneath I think the back right is easier from underneath.

Stay away from WAPs. They swell and are a PIA to remove when they burn out. I'm having trouble finding glows for the CUCV. WAPs are the only ones I can find in 24v and I won't use them.

Thanks for all the advice. I will replace it all with AG60 and hopefully don't break.
I noticed the one close to the turbo is in a metal protector. Do I need a special socket or any deep socket will do the trick?

I screwed in a set of 60G in the DaHoooley.

Work fine.

Most manufs make glows to fit this application, Champion, Autolite, etc

I prefer the 60G due to good reputation.

I can't remember now if I took those heat guards off when I was doing injectors or glow plugs or both times. Once I did glows and injectors at same time last time it was just glows.

Anyway passenger side is tedious for sure especially the first time you do it. The down pipe is close and the guards are also there. Tedious not hard.

I think I took shields off so I could reach wire connector easier and wouldn't stress wire pulling on it. And so you can reattach wire connector. Those 2 are special high heat wire extensions. The guards are nutted to the exhaust manifold use plenty of PB blaster on those nuts they will be rusty.

No special tools required but a good selection of extensions and short ratchet etc is recommended. I can't remember what all I used but I'll stack'em together and add a swivel sometimes just to make it a tad bit easier wether needed or not.

Take the tire off and go through the wheel well on those 2. Just take the mud flap thingy off.

Screw that, take the entire wheel well out on passenger side, its just a handful of 13mm bolts. Use an air ratchet, take 10 minutes first time, 5 minutes each time after.

Then you have a easy ass shot of #8, and plenty of room to work the rest.

Good time to clean up all the muck that accumulated in your radiator supports, and get a few cans of black rustoleum and go nuts in there.

Also check your ground straps, and do other housekeeping. Make a day of it. Spend some time with your rig.
