My tire blew!

Its a Good Year. Its somewhat common. The problem is, you dont have a warrenty do theres no use in determining if it was defective or not.

Were you towing at all?

I stopped at discount tire and they said they would give a pro-rated credit on it of about $85. The problem is that the rest of the tires are almost bald. He claimed that they have 7/32 - 8/32 tread left but they don't look like it to me. The current price is $209 each. I paid $159 and I think there was a rebate at the time. I don't want to put one new tire on with the 3 old ones so it looks like I need to get a whole new set.
Is there any good tires for a good deal right now anywhere? I don't want to get something with poor traction. These goodyear silent armor pro grade tires were really good.

I gave $614 for my Hankooks. A good 2nd hand set will cost you at least 400.

Better off to buy a new set and be done with it.

Discount tire offered me a set of Yokohama Geolanders for $450 after the credit on the blown tire. I am not sure if I want to get them or not.
I would prefer to buy made in USA tires if possible.

That's a good price for a brand new set.

good luck finding those. Not many if any are made in the USA even if they claim they are.

FOr Economy tires up at work we have Hankooks, and Timberlines.

For a good tire for towing theres the Firestone Transforce AT. They will run you about $150-160 a tire i think. but you cant get them any bigger than 265s for 16" rims.

For really nice tire theres the Bridgestone Dueler Lineup but they are $$$

These are just the tires we sell exclusively, we can get other brands too.

I have 265's right now but I am thinking of going to 285's. It looks like most only are available in 8 ply in that size. Is there much difference in the handling with 285s on the narrow stock wheels?

I can't find anything that looks like it will get near as good traction as what I had. There is a rebate of $40 on a set of 4 of them that ends tomorrow. Still not cheap but I don't like being stuck.
I was thinking of giving the bridgestone Duelers a try but they don't look like they would do very good in muddy clay and deep snow which we get a lot of around here when it rains.

I've towed pretty heavy (8K + Truck) and my 285's have felt fine.

They dont look like they would but looks arent everything.

My 695s hook up very well on the track, almost too good.
