Thought I'd post up what I've been doing instead of working on my house.:rolleyes5:
A couple of years ago I got a 96 XCR in a trade for installing a woodstove. It had a broken crankshaft, broke off right at the clutch. So I got that fixed and kinda thru it back together but the top end wasn't the best I thought it would last awhile but it didn't. So I have slowly been collecting parts to put it together like I wanted it. I also bought another sled a 99 RMK that had a 136" 2" paddle track . I robbed the track off of that and the tunnel extension. Then I managed to find a rail extension off ebay for the M 10 suspension that was under it. Also picked up a used but in good shape set of cylnders as well as some new teflon coated pistons off ebay too. So I tore into it the engine was no suprise but the rear suspension was pretty rough. I had too by a used swingarm off ebay for it and then a myriad of small parts from fast. When I got it all disassembled one of the rails was bent sideways and between the 2 rails there was 6 cracks and 6 holes wallered out. So a friend of mine helped me and we veed out and welded up the cracks and welded the holes up and redrilled them. Then I wire wheeled everything and put a new coat of paint on it. I also picked up a reverse kit off ebay pretty cheap so I put that on and geared it down as well. Even gearing it down it's still pretty fast. Still got a few things to do to it riser, etc. My total out of pocket expenses ended up being about $1200. Some people think I spent too much money fixing up an older sled but that's less then I could have bought one for and I've been thru just about everything on it. At least I'll be ready for next year
