My S10 with a 5.3

Trying to burn off some very old slicks, at a car show. Simple 200,000 mile junkyard 5.3 with a cam and carb. Best E.T so far was 11.98 @ 114 mph, last year.

The option GM should have offered from the factory...
I believe they did offer the COLORADO for a short time with the 5.3L after so many complained about the gutless 5 cylinder. I know in 06 when I was a salesman at a dealer, I drove one, and in all honesty my old 88 JEEP CHEROKEE with the early style 4.0L had more get up and go to it.

I have many miles towing on a 2000 GMC Sonoma with the 4.3 V6. And yeah that loudly rattled the 4.3L balance shafts...

I still can't believe GM dropped that turd of an engine on the S-10, Trailblazer, and then Hummer H3. At least the H3 alpha (and some Trailblazers) had the 'required' 5.3 V8. The Trailblazer SS with the 'afterthought' 395 HP 400 Ft LBS LS2 Corvette engine made it clear a built 4L80E was required over the grenade 4L70E that couldn't take it even when built.

Then again GM never gave the S-10 line the quality of the full size vehicles. Even the Trailblazer SS is being recalled for like the 3rd time over typical s#itty GM wiring and being "The Real Blazer" with the drive side window controls melting down or catching fire.
