My IP finaly went! I think

When I bought my Yukon I did the 2000 RPM test and it failed repeatedly. also when driving I would get a fish bite every now and agian. I have put about 12k on it and the other day It started really hard, it had run fine about three hours before. after it did start, it blew black smoke then run fine. I started for home and about 6 miles from my start point, it just died. I tried to restart it and it would crank and puff white smoke. sounds like it trys to hit on one cylinder ( rrr rrr rrr rrr bump rrr rrr rrr) I swap a known good pmd and still nothing. I have 6psi fuel at the pump. i crack the lines at the injectors and get nothing while cranking. Unplug optic and still nothing. Do we all agree? Change the pump?
 
Before replacing the IP I would make sure all grounds and fuses are shiny.
 
FSOS OK?
A IP usually does'nt die just like that, run fine one moment and then notting:nonod:

Did you try with CTS unplugged?

do you get contineous power at FSOS and PMD ,key on ,and in startmode ?

Engine harnass and firewall connector checked ?
 
If you had veg oil in it you probably seized the head and rotor,its not as bad in the summer. I've experimented with waste motor oil, if the fuel is to thick it will seize the pump,if the fuel changes temp suddenly it will also seize.
 
MY veg oil systems heats the fuel to 200f before it gets to the pump. Also it was on diesel when It died. the computer had not switched to veg yet.

I did check the FSOS. I did not check to see id I have power at tIe PMD. What pin do I check? I also did not check the CTS.

so i spent an hour this mornig checking a few last things before taking the pump out. i ran down to the deisel shop and swapped it out. 2 hours later runs like a top! thanks guys

What did you swap out? I know it wasn't the IP in 2 hours. That would be about 4 hours faster than the world record. ):h
 
read it again. i took the pump to the shop and swapped it then 2 hours latter i was on the road. it took me an hour and forty to pull it and 2 to put it back
