Well I just bought a 1997 Suburban 6.5TD with about 155k miles on it. The maintenance history does cover some work aspect as it pertains to the relocation of the PMD.

But what I am looking for is a maintenance schedule for this 6.5.

What is the best opil for this engine? Do you use an addative ? What prep should I do for winterizing ??

Point me to where I can get information.

BTW excellent forum,

thanks

Depends on if you want to keep it for the long haul. Depends on your wallet thickness also.

Synthetic is king in the cold. Otherwise Rotella 15w40. Additives is a can of worms I do not want to open.

Get all the glows working. Fresh batteries.

Buy a Fluidampr.

155k is about the time you need to do some injectors if it hasn't already had that done..

And talk nice to her.

Fuel additives very important. Power Service AND SAE 30 ND oil, or 2 = stroke oil. I use a quart per 25gallons or so. Faithfully. These older systems are designed to run on LSD instead of ULSD and need the extra lube to survive long term. Do it.
