Hey was coming home from the doctors and suddenly the Mustangs rpms shot up n it quit pulling. I was going up a slight hill and had just pulled out from a stop sign. It made no bang or anything , just quit pulling n if u gave it gas it makes a whining noise. Put it in second and it works but whines. The OD off button does not work now either but since I never use it the button might have quit long ago. I was only a little over a mile from home so I put it in nuetral and coasted a long wsys n then ran it up to 40 in second and coasted the rest of the way to the driveway. Then checked the tranny fluid level n it is full. Has a nice red color and smells normal. It has not had any past problems. I have not changed the filter or fluid. Got the car when it was four years old n had 60000 miles on it. It now has 160000 miles. Any ideas, I hate to leave on my trip for three months and come home to it broke down. Espeacially since if the Dually blows up on the trip I will be coming home on the grayhound to no vehicle to drive!

Check it for codes first. The overdrive button inop and stuck in 2nd means it went inot limp mode basically(gives you 1 gear to make it home). Most of the time it is a shift solonoid or speed sensor that does it.

I was hoping u would see this Fermanator! Just took it louis, shade tree ac guy. Its not throwing a code on his obdll machine at idle, or driving. U r right I have no third or overdrive. He is gonna call a buddy at the ford place tomoro n c what the deal is. He dont think its shot but ford is different from GM. He said GM solinods n sensors r easy thst Ford were some easy n some would be beyond him. I hope its easy. Spendin my trip money aint gonna be fun. Hey but my ac is nice in the truck. U know that evaporator was very easy to take out. The major ac shop in town wanted a thousand to fix it. Louis did it n supplied the freon n ester oil for two hundred.

the ford is getting jealous that you arent taking it on the trip. :) dont reward bad behavior, let it sit till you get back! save your $ for possible purchases along the way.

Good advice GMguy. I just want to know the problem n if its a cheap fix then fix her. If its expensive then I am gonna drive her home n park her n worry about it when I get back. She does 35mph without high rpms n its only 3-4 miles from here. Really looking forward to visitin u n seeing the combine n tractor graveyard.

the little one is here, the big one is in Idaho. closing in on 150 Gleaners in ID, closing in on 50 Gleaners in KS. long live the Silver Savers! It is no coincidence that if you scratch the tail of the "G" off the decal on the back, you get "Cleaner"

Holy crap, you need that many parts combines to keep one running?

J/K:D

LOL U get him Leo! Hey GMguy I agree n try to buy my oats from someone who runs a Gleaner, they r cleaner. Used to live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and worked for a farm supply co op n nobody would argue that a Gleaner was cleaner. But that was 22 years ago...
