Most miles ever on a 6.5?

there was a fellow selling his old VDOT GMC 1500 N/A that had 400000, said it just started to make funny noises so he thought he'd sell it while someone could still drive it away

Reg cab flatbed with over 450K on the ODO down in southern AZ at a dealer lot. Was well worn out. Looked at the miles and price and ran away!

Mine fits that descripion. It has a solid frame, and only surface rust on the body (quite a bit though), worn out interior (ac, radio, and instrament cluster are bad for starters), grill is a combo of baling wire zip ties jb weld, but IT WAS FREE TO FAMILY! lol For that price, how could i refuse?

One week I drove to Ann Arbor for a day, then North of Ann Arbor for 2 days, Back to Ann Arbor, then to some place east of Ann Arbor almost to lake Michigan, Then home for the night, then to Streator, Ill. Then to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Last to Fond du Lac and then home.
That was one of the busiest weeks of running I had. But I don't think it was the most miles I had in a week.

I swapped the granny 4 speed for a Getrag 5 speed the 1st time the clutch went out. One of the best moves I ever made. The clutch had blown a spring, but everything else was fine.

The Getrag and the rear end made all the miles without being touched

I credit the longevity to Amsoil everywhere and the FS2500 bypass filter

We're still not sure what happened to the engine when it locked up. I sold it to NCadam before we had a chance to check it out. I just messaged him to see if he ever got into it to see what condition the engine was in.

Whats the reason for all that running around?

Just wanted to see the sites. LOL

I was working on and installing kitchen equipment at the time. I've almost always had to drive for work. I spent a lot of time driving 90 miles minimum one way just to get to a job site. It was pretty rare for me to work close to home. Though I did have a few jobs local.

Whats the reason for all that running around?

This was a non turbo truck though. Turbo trucks usually blow a gasket and the block gets condemned. You cheated! Lol, I'm kidding. That's a lot of miles for any rig, what did the body look like after all of this?

The body wasn't so bad. The rockers, rear fenders and cab corners were starting to go. It had the 89 paint peel going on for years, but the primer was holding up pretty good.

It always ticked me off when I took it in for the GM paint job that I was told it had to many miles - at the time not to far over 100,000

The inner fenders on the bed were dented from oxygen tanks rolling back and forth on occassion. The headliner was gone, Other than that, it wasn't all bad

The last trip was about 150 yards or less. I started the truck, moved it across the yard, shut it off and when I tried to start it later, it would not crank. Tried push starting it and the back wheels locked when the clutch was released.

I was having a lot of health problems at the time and never got the chance to see what actually happened

My 94 is missing most of the paint on the hood and a good chunk right above the windshield. Rockers are still good but the bed sides and doors look like a feed truck for some odd reason lol.

My 82 was owned by a family friend and passed around their family. It has over 800k on the chassis and has the original 700r4 and over 400K on the current 599 6.2. I didn't put the miles on the truck but I've seen the truck alot over the years and I don't doubt it has the miles.

My 94' 3/4 4x4 nv4500 has 307000 miles on it. The original engine made it to 280000 miles when the crankshaft broke. At around 230000 miles the water pump started to leak and I thought about doing the timing chain at the same time. Well 50000 miles later the crank bolt loosened and caused the balancer to break the keyway and turn, setting the engine out of balance. So what to do i had no job, no money. Took a red 6.2 i bought from some guy for 200 and swapped all the 6.5 F parts over. With a little tweaking of the injector lines it runs perfectly, has the same power, sound, and crappy fuel economy as before. My goal to push it up to 500000

Ok 318000 on The Lil 6.2!!!! The last 20000 on a witches brew of straight wvo veggie oil. Runs like a scared haint. Uses a little oil since the thermastat debacle on Fancy Gap, was hauling a heavy slide in camper pulling a two horse trailer crammed full of veggie oil. Way beyond the intended usage of grandaddy GM. I b proud of her!!!!!

I am just over 267k right now. No noticable blowby. I hope she holds up.
I keep throwing the upgrades at her. Starting to feel like a boat. :hihi: A hole to throw money into.
