I was thinking of rust proofing my gmt400 by pulling out the vent plugs under the doors and spraying in a 50/50mix of diesel/oil in there with a garden sprayer. I have also heard that diesel fuel can be corrosive. Does anyone have experience with this? Let me know your opinion. Thanks in advance guys

I'd think there are better products out there for that. I don't think diesel will hurt metal but if it has any biodiesel blended for lubricity it might attack some rubbers and plastics?

Diesel if it gets wet, degrades, and or gets an algae growth it might stink like rotten eggs. I have smelled old off road diesel that had a bad sulfer like or rotten egg smell.

This would be for the inside of the chassis to keep it rusting from the inside out so smell wouldnt be an issue. I wont be able to get in there to clean the metal before applying something like a coating to it. So I figure oil is the only way to go but I will need to blend out viscosity with something and I thought diesel might be the answer. Anyone else?

Well it'll be cheap. I like fluid film but its going to more expensive fluid film is a lanolin based product for protecting metal and more. What are some others ?
