Missing Crossover Bolt

Yep, on the driver's side I only have two. It didn't break off and a the threads in the manifold look fine. I only noticed it because, although at full APP the boost makes it to 11 psi, I'm getting no boost at lower speeds and only 2 psi at 65 mph with a light load. It's noticeably louder in the engine compartment as well.

Does anyone know off the top of their head what the size and type of bolt holds the crossover to the manifold?

Oh, my day started joyous and full of promise. I got the bolts out of the driver’s side crossover and – just for giggles – tried to run a bolt up the empty thread for the missing bolt. No joy. Stripped.

I hit Fastenal for five new bolts and one of an extended length with an allen head. I drilled from below, ground the side of the allen head flat and flush with the bolt shaft and it dropped in from the top and indexed against the casting. I hate the nut and will search for a flange nut in town that allows the socket to clearance the exhaust but at least it’s together.

Oh, and a fleck of casting I drilled fell out of my apparently poorly washed hair into my eye while I was work so I stopped by the ER on the way home.

I’m still low on boost but everything seems sealed now and the engine compartment is quieter. It’s not like it’s my daily driver anymore…mostly just hauling my tractor…but I’d like it right.

Glad to hear you got everything sorted.

Sorry to about the metal in your eye. Been there, done that and it sucks.

Of course, you were wearing your PPE, right Dan?

You're as bad as me... spend all that time wearing a hardhat, never hit my head once. Then I get home and work without it, and hit my head on freakin' everything.

Yep, I had the glasses on when I was dusting off my head...probably bounced off the inside of the lens and then into my eye.
