This occurred less than 5 miles after having the AC compressor replaced and that is located just below the power steering pump (see shiney clutch hub at bottom). Pulley is plastic.

Question: Can I just replace the pulley? Are the bores and OD on the pulleys standard? They sell reman Power Steering pumps both with and without pulleys. Where would I get a pulley?

If I go new pump route, they're made by Luk out of Germany. Prices for new range from $315 to over $500. How difficult is it to replace these?

Wife is fine and happy driving her 4Runner I bought her last year, so this car is extra.

Looks like a removable pulley to me. Pull and take to auto parts to compare to another more common pulley. Just seeing it in the vid it looks real close to a 6.5 pulley. Probably won't get that luck though ):

When you say "Pull and take to auto parts to compare to another more common pulley" are you saying just the pulley? If so, do they have pulley pullers....that will fit in that space and get that pulley off?

Best low price remover / installer tool Atd3052.
Example only, check for better pricing.

Remove the pulley yourself, and take to a parts house to replace. Check dealership pricing, ive found with my MB that the dealer parts pricing at the counter is better than pepboys, autozone type places 80% of the time, and always good parts.

I say this is a tool to buy id you work on your own stuff, its a huge time saver. If your only doing it once then check with your pepboys, oriellys, etc. for free tool rental program. If you go this route, you can pull the whole pump and take it in there, and swap the pulley on the counter. Ive seen managers just do it for people many times. NEVER TRY PRYING ONE OFF OR FORCING ONE ON, unless your ready to buy a complete unit and get no core charge.

Inspect your belt really well.

Thanks Will. I looked at it this evening and there is no way that pulley is coming off while that pump is in the car. My line of thinking is that the car/pump has 100K miles on it and if it's coming out, a new one is going back in.

That is what I was thinking. The pullers I have fit pretty tight places.

Yeah, not a bad idea.

My 300d trapped my hand once like a friggin bear trap messing with the belt tensioner. I was 10 seconds away from putting a torch to the front end to get my arm/hand out.
