12ga diesel
Jack of all, Master of none
This is a few weeks old, but wanted to get this up on here to share.
The last week of this last pipeline job I was one, we were finishing us some little jobs on the project and one of the spots where we had to dig up a section of pipe, was off the road a ways and had to take a farm road to get anywhere near it. Pick up trucks, could drive down it, and make a three point turn when they were coming out back out to the main road. Well there was a supply truck (International 4300 with a 24ft flatbed) that would have no way of making a u-turn so it had to back down the driveway a good 1/4 mile to get to the dig site. Well he had plenty of room to go straight down the center of the driveway, but he decided to say far to the right side of the drive and keep away from the trucks, including mine, on the left. Well he got to far over, and with about the soggy conditions we had over the last few days, once those tires got off the gravel drive, it was nothing but stuck from there. He had the whole driver side of the truck off the drive and front and rear tires were buried past the middle of the wheel. Hell, it was closer to the top of the tire then the bottom of it. The mud hit the second step on the driver side. I mean the whole driver side of the truck was sunk as good as you could do it.
Here is a pic of the kind of truck it was.

I got out and asked if he would like some help, told me he had nothing to pull with, I said not to worry. Glad I bought that 3.5", 30k lbs strap. Hooked up, to him, put it in 4 Low, and rolled into it slowly. Tires hooked up and pulled him out without a problem. Was pretty damn happy with my truck, being that it was pulling out a truck that weighs about 15k lbs or so empty, and this was anything but empty. So I know there was a decent amount of weight behind me. The driver was very thankful for me helping him.
