Hi All,

I may add an Airaid MIT in the future, but not an intake kit. Plan on keeping the stock air box/filter combo. Are those Amsoil EA/Donaldson filters for real, or hype?

Unless I stumble across a GMPP CAI at a real good price, that is all I plan.

Future exhaust mods, will be when the stocker rots off, again either GMPP or MBRP.

Those stock intakes for the 4.8, 5.3 and 6 liter tend to flow pretty well. I would also look for a replacement filter as well so I think you're on the right track.

Inside your MAF, there might be a mesh screen. If yours has one, you could pop that out and gain another 10% air flow.

Be aware that if you remove the MAF screen, you could get improper readings, and you'd be worse off. If you do, be sure to keep it in one piece, and make sure you're able to put it back in. It could hurt more than it gains. We installed a K&N air intake on our suburban, and it sounds way better, and we gained power and mileage.

I've removed screens on every GM vehicle I've ever owned and never had a problem.

I just know on the 3800's that people have removed them and caused all kinds of issues. Might be due to the MAF being located in the TB. I'm just stating that from personal experience. Take it as you will.
