All:

About to put my engine back together. It will retain it's stock bore, pistons, and deck height.

How much would .010 thicker head gaskets affect compression ratio, cylinder volume, and performance?

Thanks.

A general rule of thumb with the 6.2/6.5L is approximately 1 point per .010" change. Whether this be from decking the block(increases) or thicker gaskets, shaved pistons, modified conrods (decreases). The amount is close, and for all intents and purposes it is close enough.

We find that the lowering of CR, reduces internal stresses on motor and can allow for more boost. Have not found a problem with winter starting and run a truck with 18:1. Oh yeah, we live in Canada------cold here.
