hey all, I got a used PMD that came with the 94 C1500, and I just got back from plugging it into the 98 K2500HD ECSB of mom and dad's, due to it having a relocation kit and the plug was easy to get to. The truck fires up and runs just like the other one, so at this point i will say this is an emergency spare at the least, and not garbage.

I completely understand used PMD's are un-reliable, and an overall crapshoot, and I wont trust it for long distances. But for diagnosing a vehicle, I figure if it will start and run fine, it is good enough, correct? It does have a resistor, and is a black stanadyne.

if so, I also have in my possession a super shitty PMD relocation kit that would make Leroy cry. the heatsink is pathetic. I bought it off e-bay for a song (hence the reason of owning it in the first place) and it came with a heat pad, screws, heat sink, 6ft cable, and an empty PMD box. (woo hoo)

once again, it is not to be trusted for more than about 10 miles, and is super shitty. In fact, I am wondering what to do, as dad pointed out the threads are not tapped. probably thread it in and hope it cuts its own. (what tap size is this? can I use long machine screws and put a nut on the backside?)

I plan on mating the two, and just packing it as a spare. the bonus of a shitty undersized heatsink is that it is compact and will fit in the glovebox  so, I ask you, in the pics below, do I re-use the foil type pad, or use the silicone pad?

or, for limping purposes, and with the new knowledge of no tapped holes, would it hurt to run for much distance with no heatsink, and just zip-tied in the bumper?

I am trying to make the new 94 C2500HD run (yes, there is another, no title yet, will claim full ownership and show pics when it shows in the mail! :) )
