I've been looking around on the site for this kind of information and it seems that it is spread out over many threads over many years.

With some recent changes and new knowledge about our trucks, it would be nice if some of the vendors and or pros would give us a fluid guide for maintaining our trucks.

We have a guide when to do maint., we have a filter guide for the maint., I suggest a fluid guide maybe even as a sticky to help us all keep up with the changes, recommendations, and products available.

Maybe guys just post their truck model and year and what fluids they use in the:

Engine oil -
Trans fluid -
Xfer case -
Front diff -
Rear Diff -

With a brief explanation why they use said products..opinions ok.

Then the vendors, like the Amsoil guys, post their different products for each drivetrain component and why and when you should use the different ones, i.e. weight , break-in time, etc. without posting links. I would like recommendations not a research assignment. It seems alot can change over 30,000 miles as it takes me a few years between Fluid Change Intervals.

Mine: 2001 Chevy 3500 Dmax/Alli - Dually
Engine oil - Rotella 15w-40
Trans fluid - Whatever Dealership Uses
Xfer case - Whatever Dealership Uses
Front diff - Whatever Dealership Uses
Rear Diff - Whatever Dealership Uses

I use Rotella because it has a good rep. and is available in many places at a reasonable cost, as I change oil at 5k miles, the other components because it's convenient and changes at 30K.

I hope this takes off because it aure would be useful. Also, it doesn't have to be this thread if a vendor would like to start one of his own, or whoever as long as the info is handy. My reason for this is I would like to change over to syn in all drive components except engine oil until I use up my reserve of Rotella.

I do this on a case by case basis. Standard recommendations are not optimum IMHO, my recommendations for the occasional sled puller differ from the grocery getter from the drag racer. It's just not that simple.

Ok, I'll bite.

Truck: 2005 Chevy 2500HD CCSB LLY/5 sp Alli 4x4 75k Miles
Engine: Amsoil Heavy Duty Diesel 15W-40 & EaO filter, no Bypass, etc. Changed every Oct.
Trans: Amsoil Torque Drive & Allison Filter
Transfer Case: Amsoil Torque Drive through sensor hole
Axles: Amsoil Severe Gear 80W-90
Steering Gear Grease: Amsoil Heavy Duty Grease

Anyone else see a theme?

Trans filter & Greasing every 10k, Fuel Filter every 15k, Trans, T-Case and Axles got fresh lube at 63k, will again at 110k. Engine Oil 15k or yearly, whichever comes first, checked regularly while fueling.

Heres what I'm running in the BURB currently.

Engine oil -
5W40 ROTELLA synthetic
Trans fluid - TRANSYND
Xfer case - AMSOIL SYNCHROMESH synthetic 5W30
Front diff - VALVOLINE 75W90 synthetic
Rear Diff - VALVOLINE 75W90 synthetic
Grease - LUCAS synthetic red all around where applicable

Truck: 2007 Chevy 2500HD EXT CAB LBZ/6 sp Alli 4x4 68k Miles
Engine: Amsoil Heavy Duty Diesel 15W-40 & EaO filter
Trans: Amsoil Torque Drive & Allison Filter
Transfer Case: Amsoil Torque Drive
Axles: Amsoil Severe Gear 80W-90

Wrecker I hear what you are saying and I agree about standard recommendations, but this isn't really what I'm asking. What I would like from the vendors is: Here are the products I have and this is when I would use them. For example, there are several kinds of gear oil that Amsoil offers, which do I use in a stock application, or for light towing, or heavy towing, or sled pulling, etc. etc. If it was done by product then we could hopefully figure out what we needed, and if we needed more in depth info then we could PM or post a question.

The rest of us, well, maybe we won't get much info from two or three repsonses, but if enough guys respond with what they use and why, we can start to see a pattern of which applications and situations use the specific products.

And, it would be all in one thread.
