I'm simply looking for a yes/no and what mileage you typically do it at (if you feel like typing that much). And if you're REALLY bored - where you buy your parts/fluids and why and what model #

I just bought my truck about 3k miles ago so it has 155k on it now. In the past I've had automatics and had made it a point to change oil, transmission fluids, and rotate tires.

1 On this truck, I've changed the oil once (didn't realize i had an oil cooler - so it didn't get completely clean) So...will change again at 160k or when I get an oil cooler - whichever comes first (and I change oil every ~5k)
2 flush and refill radiator
3 flush and refill brake fluid
4 check front and rear brakes
5 tranny fluid?
6 transfer case fluid?
7 Diff fluid? (with an IFS - there is still a diff that I can drain and refill right?)
8 Already replaced the front anti-sway linkage (none in rear)
9 I think I need to replace the steering linkage (does someone recommend someone that sells a complete kit?)
10 If the wheel bearings haven't been replaced - will it shortly? (will NAPA do at $199/each?)
11 Grease fittings (any inparticular that I should pay attention to?)
12 Replace u-joints as preventative maintanence in driveshafts
13 Replace u-joints as preventative maintanence in axle and axle shafts
14 Replace carrier bearing as preventative maintanence
15 Replace serpantine (or fan) belt
16 Replace IFS bushings (anyone recommend a kit?)

IF there is anything that I'm obviously forgetting - please let me know!

Just my opinions...

thanks Mike! My experiences are more beneficial if they start with trustworthy opinions - typically, haha.

and for clarity I suppose - the bushings in the IFS - I figure they get old and useless with age and salt, so should they be replaced? And I'm just wondering if NAPA is a good place to get wheel bearings, or if I could even trust autozone, or if I need to check someplace else. - thanks again!!

Hi treegump,

I'll second btfarm's reply.

I'd add:

Use synthetics for the jugs and TC case;

Consider synthetic for the Trans;

Replace the Shocks and Steering Dampener;

After you do all the front end work, get it aligned;

Install Silver Star Ultra bulbs in all the main lites in Front;

If you plan to trailer - get some Air Bags for the rear suspension,

Change out the Air Filter and do the PPE AIR box Mod,

Drain, flush and replace the power steering fluid;

Change out the Fuel filter and always carry a spare;

Just a few other things to do.

Harold

Don't change the wheel bearings unless they're making noise, or have play. Same with the bushings, if they're not bad, it's probably not worth the hassle to try and replace them.
