Lower intake bolts

Hi Guys,

Over the winter I started a project to fix a fuel leak. After pulling the intake manifolds, one thing lead to another and I'm almost done replacing the plugs and injectors. I'm now staring at the jumbled mass of bolts from the intake and realizing I should have punched them through a pizza box...

Any pointers for resource that identifies what length bolt/stud and if there's oil or coolant behind the hole?

Thanks,

-John

there is no oil or coolant between the intake and heads, only air.

Most of the bolts are the same. Atleast I thought they were.

The two longer ones with the stud on top go in the middle of the intake, where it becomes obvious that they do. All the others are the same length, some have studs on top and others don't. On the passenger side you want one with the stud on top in the far rear position, closest to the firewall, you have some ground wires that attach there. On the driver side you want one of those with the stud near the front of the engine. On mine at least a battery ground gets attached there. The rest I think are mix and match as needed to bolt down some clamps on the injection lines, etc.....

Thanks Guys,

That leaves me with a bit of a puzzle then. When pulling the lower intake, I had lots of oil on the threads and then later found coolant dripping on the ground. The oil I can probably figure out (CDR and valve cover), but no clue where the coolant could be coming from. In addition to the intake, I also pulled the mount for the fuel manager and maybe a bolt or two near the firewall that maybe I shouldn't have touched.

The coolant is from the front and rear outside corners of the intake. What he meant was the holes for the bolts do not penetrate into coolant area. When removing the bolts from the area the coolant leaked out passed the gasket. You don't have to worry about silicone on the bolts in order to seal them from coolant or oil.

-Make sure on the passanger side you have the third bolt a stud for the bar running from the intake to the turbo, the last bolt is a stud also, needed for the grounds on the back. Middle bolts are the studs also to hold the coolant tube.
-Driver side the second bolt is a stud to hold the alternator bracket on the 93-95 years.

Thanks for the pics and giving me peace of mind regarding the coolant leak.

Really glad I found TTS. Was lurking on some other boards for a few years learning what I could. Came over here when I got interested in a power adder that's taboo on another board.
