Well, mods, despite what say the title, I wonder if this thread should not stay in this section, as it will be talking about "chip tuning" too.

But if you think it might go elsewhere, please feel free to move it.

I will take the opportunity of the rebuild of my next engine to have my chip tweaked. I remarked that most of the time, I'm driving at around 80~90 kph cruise speed.

TCC is locking at 90 kph.

So, I asked buddy to custom tailor a chip for me, one of his 3 banger chip

I asked him to lower TCC lock at 80 kph. Following his advice, I will install a low stall speed converter, custom set in a range of 1200~1400 rpms.

The goal is to increase economy by using torque at lower rpms, and avoid having the converter heating, as stock stall speed is aroung 1600 rpms.

Actually, my blazer is running a 15.3 kilometers/liter ( 15.3 miles/galon (US) according to http://www.onlineconversion.com/milespergallon.htm ) urban, and it goes to something around 18 mpg intercity.

Let's see how it improves with the new chip & new converter ;)

hopefully he uses a pretty low APP % to unlock it otherwise you might actually "lug it" and hurt fuel economy
