Loose Suburban Barn Door Handle?

The handle on the barn door to my Suburban had become loose, with the cup pulling out of the door. I opened up the door panel and was only able to find one bolt securing it, which was loose and I tightened down. Staring from the back, this bolt was on the left side, opposite the door lock. I searched all over for another anchoring bolt on the opposite side, but could not find one.

So is there a second anchoring bolt?

Separately, the cup to the drivers side door handle has broken in two places. I intend to scavenge this from one of the doors I bought for my son. Can anyone describe the procedure for removal and installation?

hardest part is removing the door panel (without damaging anything). 2 bolts one is accesible from the outside 1 from inside, this is from memory which as I get older can fail so others please feel fre to chime in

Alright, I've already tightened the inside bolt. I'll go look for the outside bolt.

On that driver's door handle, how hard is it to switch locks between handles?

ya know after rereading your original post I thought you had moved on from the barn door to the drivers door OOPs I guess you should just ignore me.

No, I have moved to the driver's door now:

How hard is it to pull this and trade out the locks?

well the exterior door bolt is about 2 1/2" to the right the interior one is inside under that pia door panel and the key locks are really easy to change once it's out

I looked for the exterior bolt on the barn door handle and never saw it. Is it on the side in the door frame?

Well I bought the driver's door handle from RockAuto and got it installed:

The hardest part of the install was getting the clips on the actuator rods, which you can see by the scratches in the paint below the lock.

Next project is hinge pins and bushings. Any advice there appreciated.

I used my engine hoist and a nylon load strap around the body of the door to support the door. Sorry, no pics.

Go to Harbor Freight and get their hinge spring compressor tool. It will save headaches and burned ear drums.
