I just bought a 1995 GMC 1500 6.5. I used to work on my gasoline cars and even took some classes in school, I figured "how hard can working on a diesel be?" I mean it's got less parts and all. I tried to change the fuel filter and screwed the pooch on that one. I ended up dumping a measuring cup diesel directly into the filter housing because I couldn't get it primed. So the heck with it, get a professional. Can any of you guys recommend a shop?

Most shops have no idea on how to properly work and diagnose our 6.5TD.

What problem are you having? We should be able to talk you threw it on here.

I got it going now but once in awhile it's hard to start like its not getting fuel. I don't think I properly purged the air or I damaged something causing an air leak

Check the fuel lines, up north were they put salt on the roads in the winter are known to sometimes have holes in the fuel line.

Your sock in the tank could also be clogged.

How good is your lift pump?

I couldn't even tell you where or what a lift pump is, and it only started to mess up after I f'd with it. I think this truck saw very little salt, we just stay home when it snows here, and in richmond so does VDOT

I'm looking, I didn't pull out that brass screen, will check that and all the other stuff
