Longer oil filter - 2wd trucks

So i was poking around under my truck today and i noticed that I could fit a way larger oil filter on. The current 'stock' filter measures 5 inches. I think something as large as 8 would fit and still be lower than the oil pan. Mind you, this is on a 2wd truck. Has anyone ever had any experience with this? will adding a larger filter affect oil press or anything else negatively (other than more $ for more oil) - Would it be beneficial? And finally, does anyone know any part no's or anybody who manufactures a larger filter?

Kennedy Diesel sells the longer filter your describing. Its a Baldwin model. There quite long looking. For specifics you may want to speak with him directly for things like additional oil cap and the effects of the bigger filter.

I change my oil every 3k so it really wouldn't make a difference to me. Filter isn't on there long enough to completly fill up. But hey, thats me lol

I just ask my parts guy for a two quart filter for my 6.5 truck, IIRC it is used on chevy 2ton trucks also.

Think its a WIX 51794, but double check.

I have used a Purolator L40084 (the tall filter) for years.
I refill with 2 gal when I change the oil.
Seems to work about right with the long filter.
