LMM Exhaust??

OK...did some searching without much luck on LMM systems. Anyone put an aftermarket one on yet? Looks like (obviously...the way the world is going) we can only do a DPF-Back system at this point? Am I correct in assuming that won't void the warranty?

My main beef is that stock one sticks out like the tail hook on an F-18. I've already ran into 14 or 15 different objects backing up in the woods and bent the back half all to hell. The rear rubber shackle is busted and 2 or 3 hangers forward of that are bent, so it sits out there and wags like a drunk hitch hiker trying to give directions to his uncle's house. Some of the piping is kinked aft of the muffler, which we all know what that does.

So, first and foremost, I just want something that will pull that tail pipe way up and out of the way, improving my rear clearance overall. Increased mpg is almost always a nice perk with any of these systems, although not much on a DPF-back only I'm sure. Secondly (and this is the weird part for most of you I'm sure), I actually want one that will still be quiet. I actually love how quiet my Duramax is. This is to be the Stealth Bomber of trucks. How else can I sneak up on those delicious elk and deer? That being said, black would be cool too! Chrome won't get you home.

If anything ever comes down the pike where I could do a turbo back system (either without voiding the warranty, or after the warranty period is over), I'll readdress it then. Just need to keep my dingle dangle from dangling in the dirt.:D

So...any suggestions? I see RBP makes a black one ($700 - YIKES!!). MBRP has a new black one out for $360'ish on some sites. Any company better or worse for any reason? More power? Quieter? Thanks everyone!!! Have an awesome weekend!!!

Exhaust is interesting here...

They all sound the same. They all run a 4" or 5" tube so the only change in sound you're gonna get is from the diameter of the muffler. Some mufflers design their baffling different. Others, its a straight through design and there's virtually ZERO restriction.

I'm a fan of MBRP. They've done me well on 2 different model year trucks. The real question is, what do you want your tip to look like? The tips vary from company to company. The good thing about these systems is that you can adjust the entire piping to put it right where you want it before you tack weld it in place.

Removing the DPF is possible WITH tuning to compensate for the lack of electronics. There are several tuning devises available to reflash your computer into thinking that its still there or that its functioning just fine. Warranty? I suppose they *could* deny it but no different than those of us who got rid of the stock catalytic converters.

You gotta remember that these trucks are not loud at all. Even with a straight pipe, they're still relatively tame. Inside the truck, you'll know you have exhaust on it because it'll be deeper, and throatier but not a whole lot louder at all. I'm not a huge fan of really loud vehicles anymore either. I think I'm getting old and I like to be able to conversate inside without yelling, which I think is obnoxious.

Attached is what the stock 4" MBRP looks like when looking through it. The baffles are designed for the exhaust to run over them, not into them.

I ran a Magnaflow on 04.5LLY and while it sounded awesome, it had a lot of drone. I eventually welded up an MBRP muffler there and the drone was gone. The MBRP muffler was 8" longer than the Magnaflow, creating additional resonance.

If you also want to keep it relatively tame, you can always put on a resonator. I did and I had it welded up right in place of where the cat used to be. The resonator is a little mini muffler (looks identical in and out) and will cut down on drone, if you have it at all.

We also have some really awesome sponsors here who can take care of you in this department.

Here's what it looks like from under neath. Notice the resonator welded up where the cat used to be.

Sorry for leaving you hanging too long on this. Can't seem to stay focused on one thing at a time. Anyway, had to recently do other work on the truck. Tranny cooler lines leaking, upper A arm came loose, etc. That coupled with the holidays, I better hold off on anything for now. I really appreciate the offer though!!!
