Well my starter quit yesterday. I called the parts store got an AC delco replacement. I had to remove the old one this morning in the legion parking lot where it died. Taking the starter was really easy simply because the PO had not installed the bracket bolt. This caused one of the starter bolts to snap off in the block PITA. Now I'm looking at having to remove this in a parking lot. I think not, I go to the garage around the corner tell the guy I have the old starter out I'm getting the new one I just need the broken bolt removed and the new starter put in. I hate not doing this myself. I could have the thing towed home and worked on it here. Anyway in the end I learned I should have had a more thorough examination and looked for more things the PO may have done poorly. Now I have a new 2yr warranteed starter.

That's some pretty damn funny shit...... (not really though)... because the very same damned thing happened to me, luckily at my buddies shop. The bracket was just not put back on mine, not just the bolt.

Well I bring it home supposedly all fixed up. So I like to check because I am obsessive and I don't think people really give a sh#t. What do I find the bracket that attaches the motor to the vehicle is not installed. Now I need to go back and get it done right or call the dealer in the morning and order one and put it in myself. wtf

Was the bracket there to begin with minus one of the bolts? If it was the shop should still have it.

I'm pretty sure it was there this morning. Ususally these guys are very good I seriously doubt they did it on purpose unfortunately they aren't open until Monday which means my truck is down or I go to the dealer and grab one.

If you have any FAB capabilities one can be made with 1" angle iron.

BK95td made some, a search should turn up some pics.

Well after ordering the part from the dealer I just got it put on. In the driveway of course raining like crazy. Let me tell you what a PITA. I think something that is important for keeping the starter from chewing itself up would be a little easier to get on. Well it's on now so I'm good to drive again.
