Left blinker turns on hazards...

It was only an intermittent problem, but... Drove over a very rough bit of asphalt, fresh with snowplow potholes, went to signal for l/h turn, and my hazards came on. Right signal operated normally. Hit some more bumps, and everthing went back to normal.
I guess I shouldn't worry about it, but I'm wondering what went wrong. First thought (while problem was occuring)was a fuse, but that couldn't be it, because it went back to normal. Ground? Switch?
Help.

I would bet it is a problem in the blinker switch mechanism or wiring. If you ever take one apart, you will notice that the flashers is basically a mechanical override that turns on both blinkers at once. (actually that is how it is on my old-ass turck, the newer trucks may be computer controlled, but I still stick with my first answer!)

I am assuming it is on the truck in your sig. The hazard is a seperate switch from the turn signal switch so do this test. if you turn on your right blinkers what happens? If you nothing different then that is good. If you see something when to use the left blinker then look closely and see if the brightness is the same. if you detect on is dim you have a short/ground issue that is back feeding into the dash indicator lights. Time to get out a ohm meter and start checking. All of this is based on what you mentioned before when you ran over some really bad potholes. No doubt you disturbed the problem area.

Gentlemen, let me apologize for not being specific. This is indeed a porblem on my LLY. It's funny how sloppy I was when posting my problem...I usually attack others for not filling out their sig, being specific, etc.
So - Here's what I found out thanks to member heymcall on DP.

I'm hoping this is the problem. Seems like an easy fix if it is.

Matt - I did/do have a problem with the hazard switch on the 6.5. Ocassionally the switch will get "stuck", and won't allow the hazards to turn off. Usually happens when cleaning the interior. That problem is low on the to-do-list.
SfcJones - Only happens when using lh blinker, rh blinker works fine. No difference in dash light output from l to r to haz. Yesterday the problem came back, and it wasn't due to bumpy road conditions, I'm assuming. I was cleaning the interior, and decided to play with it in the driveway. I'm going with the flasher module. I'll bump the thread after the r&r. Thanks guys.:smile5:

Fixed it yesterday. My flasher was GM part #15764135, which translated to NAPA #LM487, $77.00. Problem solved!
