I ve got a leak of power steering fluid that only happens when I shut my truck off- any one w/ simarly problem?? :mad2:
There are no leaks when truck is on or when pressing brake.

Ive rebuilt the hydro-boost; replaced a leaky high pressure power steering line; and searched high & low. Thanks all-'keepin the faith'.

Either don't turn the ignition off or, if you have to, leave a brick on the brake pedal.):h

Seriously, though, you got me! Never heard of that one before. That's a pretty good diagnostic job, though! To figure out that it only does it with the engine off, I mean.

wish i knew!! (j/k) The area is twoward the front drivers side, and it starts off from the plastic skid plate, i think then spreads.(driveway has slight incline)

problem solved- 2nd HPHose replaced!

Parked the tahoe on a different angle and found the leak on the other High Pressure line that had not been replaced- wierd that it didn't leak when on.

Then I saw a drip of coolant - diesel gods tellin me something - can of leak stop nipped it in the bud...so far):h

Thanks again everybody!!!

Seen this many times.

The line pressure will actually seal the internal fault in the hose and when the pressure is off the hose layers will partially open allowing oil to seep through.

Glad you found it as it would have eventually failed and dumped the oil fast.

Next time you need to find a leak, wrap the suspect area with a "Lite days panty shield", unscented (less expensive IIRC) then aluminum foil over that pad will absorb the leak and foil will keep it from being blown elsewhere on you engine making you look in wrong area.

Believe it or not that idea came from a female tech rep I was working with in Italy, tracking down a nuisance oil leak, I was looking for an industrial oil soak "diaper pad" we didn't have any on site, ergo the panty shield was something we had available, (she was a very open rep to work with/one of the guys) it's "wings" worked well to hold the pad on a leaking oil line we had on a jet we were troubleshooting, and the enclosures blower fans were blowing oil all over the enclosure, making it hard to find the leak, added the pad wrapped in foil took about 5 minutes to find the leak.

.

During the entire production, this pad was waiting for its one big day of action, only to be wrapped around a leaky oil line! All the other pad's in the box got their one happy day of service!
