lb7 injectors

Stock Reman replacements. Or high flowing replacements if you have a heavily modifed truck.

There is no cure for the poor injectors. All of the option still utilize the same injector.

If you run a big charger truck with a slightly built motor, higher flowing injectors would be an option. But If you have a stock engine truck they really arent neccessary.
 
About 60% of the LB7 trucks have problems, 01-02 seem to be more prone to failure for some reason.

Vinny pretty much hit the nail on the head. I just did mine @ 92k.
Keep in mind that there is a special policy to cover certain failures of the injectors on the LB7. Coverage lasts for 7 years or 200,000 miles.
 
I have read easily 50 threads on injector failures before and after purchasing my 2003 LB7 duramax. It does seem that the common failure is either a sticking injector or cracked housing. Many have eluded to the fact that poor fuel quality can and will add water to your fuel system and also additional particles that might make it past your stock filter (esp if you have the first gen filter with larger micron filter media).

I have decided to go the route of adding an external, in-line, 2micron prefilter (Cat type) for additional particle filtration and water removal. Since my injectors and fuel system were recently flushed by the dealer before I purchased the truck, I'm starting at a "clean" baseline. I also saw in the history of the truck that the first injector(s) were replaced somewhere around 30,000mi so I also am on my second set of injectors already.

Adding another prefilter is a VERY cheap option that might just end up extending the life of your injectors. For the $50 or less it takes to buy and install...I would strongly recommend this as a way to increase injector life.

Once I get my filters installed (installing a fresh OEM filter + prefilter at the same time) I'll keep everyone posted if I encounter injector issues.
 
^^^ but you will never know if any of your preventative measures did anything.

The injectors have amind of their own and there is no way to determine if they will fail and when.

Anybody who trys to sell you something to prevent their failure is raping you.
 
We have been though 4 sets on our 03, 2 sets where cooked do to the fact that the dealer tech didn't know his elbow from a$$hole. But the truck runs great and always has, so we will keep runnin her tell she dies, 15X,XXX miles we prolly have a while with her yet.

I'm not selling something, and I'm not going by any claims from a specific vendor....just trying to apply some sort of logic to our injector failures (I've heard the thin injector wall is the main cause of failure, next to water). Maybe my injectors will still fail (again)....but adding additional filtration for <$50 seems to be a good idea to me. I'm planning on adding some lift pumps in the future to ensure there is no cavitation @ the CP3.
 
No method is proven to prevent injector failure. No filtering, additives, or tuning. I will say that the higher hp trucks with hipo injectors dont seem to have as many injector issues as stockers. Im on my 4th set. Second set of extrude honed injectors.
 
head gm service man (whick I think is full of it) said that after may of 08 that these injectors were changed and the problem was fixed. same thing thet they have said for the last 5 years. have anyone heard anything?
 
I haven't heard anything about that, but who knows. I don't think that they have changed them though.
