Last storm ruined what little paint I had left.

Nothing like watching a 2' chunk of the hood and the entire cab top of paint depart the truck at 45 MPH! Last storm rained so hard I thought it was hail due to the sound. Looks like it got under the paint and dissolved the water biased primer...

Add a 6th color to the rig of primer grey...

What are you guys doing to repaint these old trucks?

current plan of attack: save money for a re-paint, and blow it on performance. :)

I need to get a quickie done at the vo-tech for cheap so nothing rusts. they charge for paint and supplies and 10 percent, so much cheaper than other venues. from what I hear, about the only department of our local vo-tech that doesnt suck.

otherwise, I hear about 5 grand for a pickup truck. maybe a reg cab chassis cab can be done for less than 2 grand?

for the price of it, I am debating about doing the rustoleum paintjob that Hot Rod magazine did, at least it would be cheap.

This last weekend up in Big Bear I saw a young guy in a nearly new F150 that had been painted in bed liner, kid you not. Is there some sort of stealth value to that? Avoid tickets from lazer and radar?

Way over budget and behind schedule. I rattle canned (rustoleum) some of it a few years ago. That is still attached. The wind and rain just took the rest of the factory paint off.

Best bid I got was $1300 and Maaco was $800.

the maaco wont last forever I am sure, but I bet you will get at least 5 years out of it. looks alot better than primer.
