Question: The little round mesh fuel filter screen that slides over the filter Mgr tube (for lack of a better term).....Is it supposed to slid down to the bottom or middle or what?

Seems mine is a little more than half way down and then stops.....I don't see how this would protect any debris going in thru to the IP...anyone have a pic or a clear explanation of the position this screen?

A pic would be worth a thousand words.

Thanks,

It stops. When you push the filter down on top of it, it ends up sitting in the very bottom opening of the fuel filter.

I believe its purpose is to stop a decaying filter from shredding its paper element into the IP.

I don't see how it can go any lower down than it already is.....which is about 3/4 of the way.....It's realy bugging me.

No pics of proper location?

I don't have that screen....guess I should buy one huh?

I don't have one either. I attempted to buy one from SSD and it never showed up. Not sure if it was an accident or not, but i haven't attempted to buy another yet.

It stops BT. If it went down any farther I don't think the fuel filter would reach it. LIke I said, it sits right at the bottom opening of the fuel fliter once its installed.

Let me go look at the one I have in my garage and see if I can see the stops, even though It has no screen.

The ring separate the clean/dirty allowing clean to IP and below that the water gets trapped in the bowl.

So the screen slides down the shaft and hits that first ring shield you see, which is the IP feed chamber, after passing through the filter, and the last ditch screen.

Yeah, the fuel feed is a tube within a tube with the heat element coil. That screen sets on the lower, outer tube. 4 little tabs on the perimeter/bottom of the plastic fit within the outer tube & the body of the screen sets just on top of the outer tube.

I tried to use a deep socket to tap it down on my first try & didn't get it in quite square. Buggared it up trying to fish it back up for another try. Got another screen & took the time to push/tap it down/on more gently next time.

FYI, the screen is Stanadyne part #29244 (at least it used to be...:rolleyes5:). Look around for a local place that is a Stanadyne dealer, or use the dealer locator on their website.

I bought mine from SS Diesel as well, he seems to be the only one that has them easily. The Chevy dealer couldn't find them in his book. That is one of the few things Walt is good for, small stupid stuff like that.

Best thing about SS DIESELS filter screen is that it will add 40 HP according to his website....

Why are all you Massholes like that? Damn I forgot people know what state I live in.:smash:Oh well.:biggrinjester:

Walt from SS DIESEL SUPPLY lied to me, refused to aknowledge his PMD was bad, and sold me all sorts of things before giving up on me.

He also deleted my messages on his forum explaining my situation, as it was obvoius his intent was to make money off me, not help fix my truck.

So I'm a Masshole? Damn straight I am!
