I have been thinking that i would like to have remote door locks on my truck. Have any of you ever installed one on a gmt400. what is a good brand to buy. my dad put one in our familys 87 ford van and a 94 cavalier that he had. but that was a long time ago and i wasnt old enough to help at the time so i dont have any experince.

I put a full out remote start system in my wifes 99 Burb a couple years ago. Wasnt too bad of a project, I just wish I had better wiring diagrams of what was needed for it when I did the project, as i missed an ignition wire. Now when you remote start it, the headlight buzzer runs until you turn the key and hit the brake. I misssed the wire to 'bypass' this problem.

My system is a MARS 22. I needed an additional module to handle the theft deterrent system. I'm not even sure who makes just a plain keyless entry... it might be easier to find a truck that has the factory setup in it, and scavenge it.

Do you have power locks to begin with? :hihi: Otherwise you have to get the motors/solenoids...

Check your VIN as some years came with keyless and the remotes got lost.

I would suggest an alarm system installed with the keyless entry option. Just because it may be the cost effective solution. Alarms may be cheaper than just keyless entry.

Remotes are $50.00 a pair used for factory systems and then you have to program them. I know it is expensive to have them programmed at a dealer for 1995's.

95 factory remotes are easy to do.... I did mine when I put a new battery in it. Involves jumping pins on the OBDI connector - google it! :)
