(Just got this used from dhjunkie.)
I have never been so happy to hear a fan roar to life. It did not start out with morning sickness but kicked in as I was stopping from freeway speeds. It then kicked back out on an entrance ramp.
Climbing a hill it allowed me to keep my speed and gear. When I did down shift I was able to keep at the speed limit of 65 with the clutch locked in. My temp did not climb as high as it did with the INOP factory fan and clutch. As soon as the hill and load was reduced the clutch kicked back out. This was towing a 24' trailer and 40-50 degrees out. My last clutch bled to death and slowed me down to 60 from the engine getting hot and resulting loss of power.
This fan is quick to kick in and kick back out when not needed as compared to normal fan clutches.
I have no doubt this will help keep my temps under control. Out here a fan screaming to keep stuff is normal. You worry when the fan isn't noisy as it means it is broke! So if the fan runs a lot - well my Duramax fan run a lot too towing in 110 weather with the AC on.
I also found that the 21" plastic ringed fan from a Trailblazer will fit and bolt up clearing my fan shroud. I elected to use the stronger 20" steel fan though.
I did speak to KD this week about another part and was satisfied - part out of stock so they could not overnight it...
