K-47 Airbox Fitment

My son purchased a K-47 airbox on-line for his '95. It came without the elbow, but we can address that. Our issue is the connection at the fender. That piece did not come with the airbox and clearly there is a difference between the two:

The K-47 box is on the bottom, stock on the top. Obviously, the K-47 will not fit over the connection at the fender. So what do we do?
 
I don't have that fitting either. Mine sits around 3/4" away from the hole in the fender and seems to do just fine.
 
I don't have either of the OEM air boxes but with my AFE, I cut up a used plastic storage tub to fabricate the mods I needed to close it up. You could probably do the same to get the ducting the way you need it.

put some foam insulation tape around the edges, and screw that dude, to the fender. Just try to isolate the incoming air as to get as much fender air, and not so much under hood air as possible.
