just got a 599 engine for my f model 94 6.5

Any idea how many miles are on the engine? Can you hook a starter up to it and run a compression test on it? If you've got good compression, I don't see a reason to change the rings. Nor the bearings. I'd just get studs and head gaskets and call it good. But that's just me.

that sounds cheaper. i have plans to build up the engine im taking out. have no clue on miles. was a salvage wreck. the donor Burb was totalled. they pulled it for their father he has 3 different 6.5 trucks said it sounded real good maybe just a bit tired. im not scared about being a bit tired, so am i!! i definatly want to put the studs in it though.

Check the bearings before you buy any - you may not need them.
Check the block for cracks before you buy parts because you may be buying another take out engine...

Studs you are on your own.
Gaskets are best through a local parts store as UPS etc. tend to mangle things.
Rings on Ebay or local parts source. Even Jegs can get these - but not in stock.

I can get the studs for $172 + shipping. Let me know if I can help.
Part # 130-4062 ARP

Is it a runner?

If it is and you plan to rebuild you current block, I wouldn't spend any money on it at all.

Drop your cash into the rebuild and drive the runner until you get the rebuild done.....

Or, if your truck is running right now and the 599 is a good core, rebuild the 599 and yank to current block out of the truck when you're done.

i was told it is a runner and sounded good. my engine that is in my truck currently does run but has a rod going (dang oil line came off on a crappy rainy day going down the interstate at 75 mph, so i didnt see the smoke till it was too late. i had it running great thanx to acesnieght last year. havent dared to start it at all so i could salvage as much as possible. i also have a 6.2 block, heads and crank if all else fails with this newest one. im stoked to get working on it. once i get a break from everybody elses stuff they need done. and burning oil, i will be talking to you about the studs too. if i can figure out how to. im not very computer friendly, im a grease monkey not a techy.

Just let me know and I will send you an invoice (will need your email address) that you can pay by CC or I take postal money orders, but its slower for mail times.
