So it has been a while since I have posted here so I thought I will share what I have been up to. Nothing to exciting but with winter coming and productivity grinding down I did have some videos from this summer of some testing I have been doing with my water/methanol kit. I know you guys like videos and it isn't really good evidence but in the videos I did the best to show the gains I do have. I know it is in the signature but the kit is a Snow Performance Stage III Boost Cooler running a 375ml/min and 625ml/min nozzles. Running -20*F Washer Fluid at the moment.

Before I mentioned before not many gains power wise from the system and EGT was not much lower. Well, turns out (embarrassingly) I had some bugs in the system. I got those since figured out and can report massive power gains across the board and a dramatic drop in EGT's.

During WOT max effort runs (like in the video) EGT's do not exceed 700*F. As far as power gains I am not a good estimate of power but I feel comfortable in saying torque is where the real gains are had with the much faster spooling of the turbo much lower in the RPM band (as you will see in the videos as well) I would say I have another 80-90ft lbs on tap. And I really am trying my best not to over-compensate that number. In fact enough gains that I am now needing a new clutch, major slippage :) hello 375hp Southbend. Well, anyways, I do my best to not sound half stupid in commentary in the videos. Also, in the WOT video, I take a second to start because I was pulling off the shoulder of a gravel road and didnt just want to spin so I waited until I got onto pavement, but pretty much once I hit the throttle it was injecting, and yes, I know I short shifted 3rd a bit, and no, I didn't shitty shift into 4th, my tranny is just going out, it always grinds haha. I got a back up.

Also forgot to mention, block recently was removed recently and received a very nice set of ARP headstuds, courtesy of leroydiesel (thank you for great service) and new head gaskets, along with the set of turbo T-stamp precups out of my old 599 block.

Nice. I feel like a second string lineman watching starting running backs get their '100' times... Hard for me to compare.
Do you know the weight of your truck by chance? I live between 8700 and 9000.

Very impressive 6.5L !! I'm glad to see you posting up on your truck again. I've been very curious how your truck was doing, as it was the one I was drooling over before I ever started my build. I can see I still have a long way to go before I make it to your performance level. Very Nice!!

Matt

Really nice. I have plans for water/meth also. Could you get some pics of the install and the hard parts componients locations?

And thanks again for ARP stud purchase.

Yeah burningoil, I will try to get some pics over winter break here in the next two weeks when I can get home into the shop, right now it's parked outside with a few inches of snow on the ground. And I know with a completely full tank of fuel (I think it's the 38 gallon tank or whatever) and me inside of it ( another ~200ish lbs) she comes in at almost exactly 6000lbs (6014lbs if I remember the scale weight correctly). So she is fairly lightweight, which really helps the "wow" factor I think. Had I not short shifted 3rd and with a good condition transmission I think I could have got a bit quicker haha but I am very satisfied with how she runs right now.

She seems to run strong- quick, nice and smooth. By my count 0-60 in about 9 secs.

You just can't use the word "smooth" with the gear grinding going on. :p

It's past time to pull the trans already! Why wasn't it pulled with the engine???

The old one that was going out WAS pulled with the engine lol don't think I didn't plan on this. I had bought what I was told was a freshly rebuilt transmission. Turns out the transmission I bought was junk. So I'm driving on it while my old one gets worked over. As you can tell, I really care about keeping it intact haha something I'm dealing with at the moment.

LOL, was speaking about how the 6.5 was running!

That sucks about being sold a bum trans.

It's alright. Still winning races with it haha During normal driving if I shift at lower rpm's/speed and time it just right and throw some voodoo magic at it, it won't grind, so it's getting by.

If it has the wrong oil it will grind. Someone put 90wt in my 94's rebuilt trans, ground from day 1. That was back when I didn't know anything about these trucks

Also a somewhat updated picture of the motor with an updated intake I made and somewhat of a heat shield. I also remade the waste gate to a much better design (not pictured) and re-routed the CDR back into my intake instead of dumping to atmosphere.

Removing the A/C accumulator, and relocating the coolant bottle free's up alot of room on that side of the engine. That is a sharp looking ole truck you have there!

Matt

I just realized that thumbnail of the motor cuts the picture in half haha and yeah, it does open up a lot of room. I had to move that stuff to make room for the BD Diverter Valve and now that it's gone, just have no need to move it back. I actually like my overflow tank being where it is better and having no accumulator is epic nice. Not that my A/C ever really worked anyways since I got the truck, so it was easy to make the ditch with it, but not having it there makes such easy access to so many things!!! hahaha and thanks for the compliments. Lot of time and hard work has gone into her. Not to mention probably more money than I'd like to admit at this point haha

Nice truck 6.5L. I am glad you got the bugs worked out of WMI. I remember the days of the Snow WMI kit pushing the Diesel Camaro over 120 mph. Your truck runs strong, thanks for the post and videos! Take care and have fun!
