I don’t think I ever sooted up a toilet seat before.

The Boyce Equipment, boyceequipment.com, Military Surplus 6.2 engine with major modifications is now dropped in as a turbo 6.2 in my truck. The 6.2 engine was spotless like it was rebuilt and left as a spare. Valve covers and rockers were clean; missing the normal soot build up. Fired up and took some doing to get all the air out of the fuel system. Smoked up the shop and the fallout landed on everything. Including in the bathroom of the shop.

Finally moving under it’s own power again.

Modified the prime the fuel system procedure. That is put in the impossible to reach glow plugs on the passenger side, then, drop in the engine. Spin it over till it fires a few times on the plugged cylinders. Then finish assembly.

The 6.2 is not an exact fit as the 6.2 lines make the heat shield difficult to install.

Anyway… Changed the head gaskets to 6.5 gaskets, ARP head studs, changed the manifolds, water manifold, CDR w/valve covers, timing cover and water pump, all accessories with brackets. Damper swapped. Made a turbo oil line from the oil pressure sender tap. Removed the fuel pump and added the turbo drain plate. Swapped injectors to the short style. Swapped TPS to the 6.2 IP. Turned up the screw ½ turn.

so if a guy had a set of 6.5 inj lines and all the other parts it would be a pretty easy swap

I did not use my 6.5 lines. You can get away with 6.2 lines, but must have the short body turbo 6.5 injectors.

Not happy with the lower power. Needs some work like timing being set. The engine is quieter than the old 6.5 so I suspect it is retarded.

What's your excuse?? ):h

Great news. Update us when you tinker with the timing!
